Iphone 6 cellular data not working on prepay go phone service

Cellular data does not work on iphone 6 with Att pre pay go service for some reason. When I use this same sim card in iphone 5 data works just fine And if I use my wife's post sim in iphone 6, data works as well. So, I think problem is with combination of iPhone 6 and att prepay go phone. Went to local att store and called technical service as well but they had no clue. Please let me if you are having the same issue of know how to fix it. Thanks.

This is what another member posted in another thread concerning a similar issue. I'm going to try it later.


"So mine is working now but I can't figure it out how it happened. After trying new apn profiles from various websites such as unlock.co.nz, m.apnchanger.org I has finally given up so I decided to factory reset the phone and try plugging it into my computer and activating it through iTunes. My iPhone had turned on (after the reset) and I plugged it into the computer BUT I had no opened up iTunes yet. Then I realized that this time, weirdly enough, it said LTE at the top as opposed to 4G. I'm not sure if it was because my phone was plugged into the computer or not (which shouldn't have mattered since I did not even have a chance to open up iTunes yet) but another possibility is that it takes time for the edited IMEI on the at&t account to be pushed to the actual sim/phone? So I'm not entirely sure how it was fixed but I hope for the best for you as well! With that said, enjoy the iPhone 6"🙂

After multiple hours on the phone with Apple and AT&T and a SIM card swap, this was the solution that worked for me w/ the T-Mobile "Contract Free" iPhone 6

I spoke to an AT&T GoPhone representative who actually figured out what the issue was through trial and error while speaking to other customers with our exact issue (no data on iPhone 6 w/ AT&T GoPhone plans).

Start by calling 611 and quickly get to a representative who can change your account's internet settings on the backend. At the time of posting here are the steps I followed:

-Call 611

-Wait until prompts are given, then press 0 for Operator

-During next prompts choose 6 for "More Options"

-Then at next prompts press 1 for "Technical Support"

-Then say "Data Services"

-Call will be routed to the correct queue


The AT&T Rep turned on a “feature” on my account by adding “NXTGENGPO” to my internet settings. This was all done on the backend at AT&T, not on my phone. Here were the steps I followed:


-Turned OFF Cellular Data (in Settings - Cellular)

-AT&T Rep added "NXTGENGPO" to my interned settings on the backend

-Turned Cellular Data back ON after it was added

-Cycled the phone off/on.


Lo and behold, LTE appeared on my phone after the reboot and data now works! When I asked what others should be asking for when calling, he said to do the following steps outlined above. I would assume this will work for an AT&T model iPhone 6, and for the Plus models, but of course, YMMV. Nothing else worked but this solution, including a complete restore through iTunes w/ carrier updates, AT&T APN downloads from unlockit, multiple "Reset Networks Settings" in Settings, a SIM swap, etc...

This just worked for me. At first I was transfered to tech support in the Philippines and they were not able to resolve my issue with basic troubleshooting and my request to add “NXTGENGPO." It was unclear if she even tried "“NXTGENGPO." Then I was transfered to advanced tech support and spoke to someone on-shore. She was able to add the code to my acct and my iPhone 6 now has data.

The NXTGENGPO code is the fix for GoPhone users, I.e prepaid with the iPhone 6.

Thanks for posting this. The guy I spoke to in advanced support asked me to spread the word to anyone with the same problem.

I assume this is just temporary until they update their systems permanently.

BTW the issue is concerning the APN settings not being pushed correctly for these accounts. The unlockit.nz fix (using the ATT HSPA+ profile) is also a usable workaround for anyone that needs data immediately. Just be sure to delete the profile once ATT updates your account.
