music syncing problems iPhone 6

I have 128 gig iPhone 6 and I am trying to sync a 80 gig music library to it. The sync process gets hung on "Waiting for changes to be applied". I am syncing on a a 128 macbook pro with retina display and my iTunes library is on external hard drive.

Ive been having the same problems as you all. I have been trying to sync my music up since last weekend. That is when I fist got the 6 128g. I called Apple and after all their suggestions didnt work I did a restore 5 times. I FINALLY got it to where I wanted it. I too have over 20,000 songs in my library. I was only trying to sync half that. I think after I restored it last Sun, it finally worked. Fast forward to this past Fri night. I sync my phone. And 70% of the music was sucked off. Mind you I still have "SYNC MUSIC" checked with a little over 9,000 songs ready to sync. I ended up deleting and re-installing iTunes on my PC this morning and have been working on getting all the music I want on it. I have followed a few of your suggestions in this thread and I finally got. I honestly think that after all I did (even though Im still not suite sure what I did that made it work) that checking "MANUALLY MANAGE MUSIC" did it. Im scared to plug this phone in again to sync it. I may not do it again until they either come out with some iTunes and or iOS updates or I HAVE to.

On a side note, I was just syncing my phone and it did some really odd stuff. At first it was only syncing 7,000 of the 9,000 I wanted on there and that my iTunes said I was syncing. Then I went and told my phone to "show all music" on my phone and it sunk the 9,000. So weird. Plus, my iTunes said it was done syncing yet my phone continued to think and add songs. It took about another 10 min to sync the rest of the songs after iTunes was done. Odd......

THe Apple rep I dealt with last weekend was very nice and tried her best to be helpful. That was when mine went whacko too, after it was fine and I tried to sync a few more albums onto it that I had thought of over the week, Thats when all he** broke loose again. I just got it back to where I want it. I wont be syncing until I do some research here in the forums.

After spending hours on trying to sync my music library and my movies. Trying all the various suggestions in these threads with somewhat limited success, de-authorizing my previous phone did the trick - for now. Who knows the next time I try and sync?!

I have an iPhone 6 Plus with 64 GB and running iOS 8.0.2. First nothing worked with syncing my music and movies. Then after restoring my phone, removing everything on it, not syncing through iCloud, it appeared that all my music synced up - not the movies. But when I tried to play back the songs on my iPhone only those that I purchased through iTunes would play. Those that I imported in from my CD collection over the years - appeared as if they were there, but when I clicked on them they greyed out and it would skip ahead through all the songs until it found an iTune purchased song. Weird! So it appeared that only iTune purchased songs synced over correctly and would play. Same for movies. Those that were burned and imported from my DVD collection would not sync over to the phone.

Now that I de-authorized my previous phone - everything synced over, music and movies, and all appear to be accessible/playable now.

I must say this is the worse experience I have ever had with Apple products and software. My last phone (4S) several years back - plugged it in, synced it up - perfect first time and every time thereafter. This has got to be a bug with iOS 8 and the new iPhones. Based on everything I've read on several forums and news reports this is not a small portion of the 10 million new iPhone 6 & 6+ users. Apple is not instilling confidence lately. From their streaming problems when they announced the new iPhone 6's to this. I'm so excited by the new Apple Pay coming soon - but my excitement is one of extreme caution now. What bugs will there be with that and will my credit card statements show double billing or worse??? A BIG vote of "no confidence" right now. Apple has to solve these problems and ensure it's customers that it will do better in the future - and demonstrate it!

Right, further hours wasted has brought a few other things to light. Yes I have de-authorised by old iPhone, and have managed to sync my music collection across. But...if you try adding extra songs to the playlist you are syncing from, syncing ringtones or generally sneezing anywhere near your phone, the problems return with greyed out songs, albums not playing on the phone etc. It was suggested I try restoring the phone and setting it up as a new image rather than using the old one from my 5. Spent hours backing up contacts, notes and pictures only to find this didn't solve anything and the same problems continued. My advice is to set up absolutely everything as you want it first on your iTunes, playlists, album artwork, ringtones etc. then do one fresh sync, then leave the phone well alone until they release an update!!!!

After trying everything suggested above, I have figured out how to restore the ability to copy files (using Manual management) to iPhone 6. First off, if iTunes is hung on Waiting for Changes to Be Applied or Preparing to Update, cancel the sync by hitting the little "x" next to the hung message. Then click on your iPhone in the side pane and uncheck and re-check Manually Manage Music. The sync icon on your phone should go away. Then you can delete whatever greyed out tracks/vids you have on your device via iTunes. Then Control click on your iPhone in the side pane and select Reset Warnings. Hit Sync, and everything should run smoothly. After that, you should now be able to copy tracks over. It WILL happen again, so keep this handy. It's a lot quicker than doing a restore, and you get to continue where you left off instead of starting from scratch.

Yep im pretty much experiencing the same as everyone on this topic. After a week of trying I finally managed to sync my iphone 6 64GB. This was after many attempts failing with 'waiting for changes to be applied' etc. At onepoint I got an error message telling me i didnt have enough room to sync (10gb of music onto a 64gb phone hmmmm)

Anyway, i had to get my handset replaced as it deveoped a separate fault so now I am back to square one. The only thing that happens is that my phone is backed up & apps are synced. Then it just hangs and does nothing.

So infuriating! Especially as my sole reason for ditching my Samsung Galaxy and moving back to iphone was so that I could have a decent Music service.

Apple care havent been much use on the issue just basically going through the same troubleshooting guide we all have access to if we search for it.

Anyway, i'll try all the methods offered in this thread and fingers x'd somethign will work (and if it does then major Kudos to the person that provided the solution)

I think you need to pay attention to the following issues:

FIRST, if your music is on an external hard drive, you should first click File on iTunes to add these songs to your iTunes Library on your computer.

SECOND, I have to say that you're trying to sync so many songs to your iPhone 6, that makes it easy to encounter errors. And the correct way should be add songs to your iTunes Library first > then sync iTunes Library with your iPhone 6. Don't try to sync more than 10 GB songs to your iPhone each time. You can't listen to so many songs, right?!

If your music library is too large to sync to your iPhone 6, you should try to use iTunes alternative, like TunesGo, to copy songs directly to your iPhone, not via iTunes.

Thank you!! I've got an iPod classic, one of the later generations, probably one of the last ones they released, 160g. I do t think I've ever had an issue syncing that. And yes, I think one of the biggest reasons most would go with the 128g iPhone 6 is so they could fit a lot of if not all their music on it. I don't listen to the radio. I domy listen to pandora. I don't lime streaming music. I don't fancy carrying two devices around, one for phone and apps and another for music, either. I did finally get most if not all the music I wanted to sync to my phone. I went through a frustrating time doing it and I'm not to keen on trying to sync my phone again any time soon. I'm happy it's in working order and I have a lot of music on my phone. But it would still be very nice if I wasn't worrying about plugging my phone into my computer for a sync in the future. Hopefully there will be more update to iTunes and iOS that will fix these issues. Don't get me wrong, even after all this, I still love my iPhone 6. It's a great phone, fast, clear, looka great. I would be a lot happier even still with my syncing capabilities worked Out.
