iOS 8 Wi-Fi problems

WI-Fi problems on iPad Air, iPad mini with Retina display and iPhone 5S after upgrading to iOS 8.

Typical results from OOKLA Speedtest before upgrade: Ping 17 ms, Upload 21 Mbps, Download 4.4 Mbps

Typical results after upgrade: Ping 39 ms, Download 2.9 Mbps, Upload 0.47 Mbps

iPad 2 with iOS 7.1.2 get 15 Mbps download and 4.4 upload on the same network.

Resetting network settings on the iOS 8 devices did not improve the performance.

Changing band on the router from 2.4 GHz to 5 GHz did give me back the speed on all devices.

However the speed occasonally drops on the iOS 8 devices, and the signal strengt can go from full til lost connection without moving the devices.

Also sometimes the Wi-Fi SweetSpots app report 0 mbps when the signal strenght is indicated as full and then suddenly go up to around 58 Mbps again.

It is almost like the device is trying to use cellular network that I do not have on the iPads before it suddenly switches back to Wi-fi nettwork again.

I am thinking about going back to my iPad 2 with iOS 7.1.2 that is working perfectly until the Wi-Fi issues are resolved.

Any help will be very much appreciated!

After updating my ipad mini 16 GB retina ATT, I have connection issues as well

While web browsing connection just seems to stop but still shows full signal in the status bar. speed tests have dropped significantly to 4-2 mbps when it is normaly 34-10. I have an Asus RT-AC68R and 2 other ipads that have yet to be updated and work great on ios7!! Wish i could roll my ipad mini 2 back. This update has made this ipad very frustrating to use.

Steps I have take to trouble shoot:

Full Reset and Restore,

Full WIFI settings delete and manually restore

Full Itunes Restore (Hold down home button while connecting to itunes on PC)

None of which have helped more then 30 mins of which the problem comes back.

Also need to note that after updating this ipad, it take a very very long time to see my apple tv and sometimes it doesn't at all.

Way to go apple for giving us all the beta and not making us able to roll back.

Went over to my boyfriends last night, and the past few days my iphone 6 had no problems connecting to his wifi. this time, i was connected to it for awhile, but then i realized i wasn't connected anymore. went over to the wifi setting and realized that the phone wouldn't find ANY wifi networks for a long time...had to keep turning wifi on and off, then finally it found his wifi again but took FOREVER to connect to it. what is wrong?!!!

Same situation on my 5s. Whilst poking around I went to Privacy / Location Services / System Services & disabled WiFi Networking. That was about 3 hours ago & I've not seen that stupid spinning wheel yet. This would be the the longest I've gone without resetting Network Settings since updating.

Guys - try this, it's been about 5 hours for me now & I've still not had a timeout. That's the only thing I fiddled with.

I too have noticed the double cap' issue on my iPad but I only see it on the Safari browser, and this forum no where else. I do not use Safari. Firefox, Google, or Chrome is all I use. I do have WiFi issues, mostly with the iPod Touch 5, but no different then before the upgrade. I should point out that I do not have an iPhone so many of the problems sited I will not have. However I am going to get an iPhone 6+ when things settle down in a few months. I knew better then to purchase an iPad Air with a built in wireless connection, it limits you too much instead I am using a Verizon Jetpack MiFi with 4G connectability. I have zero problems with it. My home network uses a Apple Airport Extreme, I have not had any trouble with my network only the usual trouble with my CenturyLink DSL connection. I do not blame Apple for broken App's that is not Apple problem what few problem I experienced where quickly solved. I have experienced no battery over heating issues, both the iPad Air, and iPod Touch 5 are encased in an OtterBox Defender case. The one issue I do have that I have not yet taken the time to address is My iPod Touch is paired to my iPad Air via Bluetooth, it doesn't work. I am not sure why. I do have an Apple bench mark. I have my first iPod Touch 2G every so often I pull it out and charge it up, even those the screen looks like it is out of focus it is a marvel how smooth it works, it seem like things have gone down hill since.

I have the same issue with my iPad Air.

It is not a router issue as I have an Airport Extreme as well as airports.

I have done the suggestion of:

And we will see if that works or not.

I notice the problem after the ipad is dormant for a while, wether screen is sleep or not.

I have not noticed this on the iPhone 6+ I have now as of yet, just the ipad air. Apple really needs to look at this.

So glad it is not me, I noticed this last week.
