Car Bluetooth Connectivity Issue with iPhone 6

Just got the iPhone 6 on Friday -- very exciting! But I can't get the phone to connect to my Mini Countryman's bluetooth. The phone will detect the car's bluetooth signal, and says it's connected, but calls aren't audible via the car stereo system, but rather the phone itself. And if I don't turn the bluetooth off, my car thinks I'm on a call and the radio won't work.

It's frustrating because this feature use to work with my 5s. A friend of mine is having the same issue in his car. And I've seen others complain about this -- seems like an Apple issue. Not sure though.

Update: After reading various post in different forums, I was able to successfully get the Bluetooth to work. Basically steps I took were as follows:

/1/ Clear all phones from the Honda Handsfreelink.

/2/ Delete the Bluetooth connection on iPhone 6 paired with Handsfreelink.

/3/ On the iPhone 6, under General, select and execute "Erase All Settings."

After accomplishing the steps above, I paired the car and phone and it's been working ever since. Once in while I have to manually select Handsfreelink on the iPhone, but most of the time it grabs it as expected.

No issues with call quality on either end of conversations.

I have tried all suggestions listed on the internet of restoring phone, resetting network settings, resetting ALL settings, and etc. and this all works for a little while but eventually I get the same thing. The phone features just stop working. I have a 2012 VW Jetta, 2012 Honda Pilot and a 2014 F250 and all experience the exact same symptoms. I called apple and they claim this is a firmware issue on all three cars. BS!!!! After arguing with this so called senior tech they suggested I go to the apple store and swap phones. This is unacceptable. I am baffled by all the issues with this new release/phone has had.......

Hi

I had a similar issue on my Audi Q3 and my new iPhone 6

I did all the resets and deletions, however it still did not work correctly. Apple offered to swap the phone for a new one, however I gave it one more shot.

I went to iCloud and found that the old backup of my iPhone5 was still there (with the same name as my new iPhone).

I deleted the iPhone 5 iCloud backup then signed out of iCloud on the iPhone.

I then went to the car and deleted the iPhone

I deleted the car on the iPhone.

I reset the Bluetooth, phone and directory settings back to the factory default on the car.

I reset the network settings on the iPhone. (I also did a home/power reset on the iPhone).

I then turned both the car and the iPhone off then on again and made sure Bluetooth was activated on both.

Paired the iPhone with the car.

Did some testing, including turning both the car and the iPhone off and on to make sure the connection was being restored.

Manually set up the other network settings.

Everything seems to work ok now.

I followed the original instructions but eventually the phone would stop connecting correctly.

The only addition this morning was the iCloud bit.

Thanks ssher88. I followed your recommendations yesterday (with one small change) and it worked! My iPhone 6 ios 8.0.2 and my Lexus RX350 was able to receive and make calls via BT like before. The small change to the recommendation that I made was not to use "ERASE ALL SETTINGS". The choices are "RESET ALL SETTINGS" or "ERASE ALL CONTENT AND SETTINGS". I used RESET ALL SETTINGS. If you use the other one (ERASE ALL CONTENT AND SETTINGS), all your data (photos, music, etc.) will also be deleted in the process, and it is not necessary to do this.

The car phone still work as of this morning (knock on wood).

Hello I am adding to the conversation. I have a 2014 BMW X1 and my iPhone 6 plus has a weird bluetooth problem with the car. The phone connects OK for conversations, but my contact list loads only some of the time. Whether or not it loads appears to be random. I used both a iPhone 4 and an iPhone 5S with the car with absolutely no problems. I downloaded 8.0.2 yesterday, but it did not fix the issue. This is the only bluetooth issue that I have uncovered so far between my car and the phone, but it is annoying. I make a lot of business calls from my car and now far too many times I have to pull over to select the number from the contact list on the phone rather than using the bluetooth list on my car's display screen which I can easily and safely access while driving.

I can't get my iPhone6 to receive calls. In both of my cars, the phone rings but I can't answer on the handsfree. Also I can't make calls. The phone shows as connected. I have a PathFinder 2014 and VW CC 2012. Same problem on both. Tried everything here and nothing.

This is extremely annoying. I have been doing some experiments and I think the issue has to do with the so call handover feature for the iPhone 6. I had no problem with iPhone 5 using iOS 8. I can receive calls on my ipad with the handover but I can't make it work in the car.

I think this will not be solved with a simple software update... but I may be wrong.

I have an iPhone 5s with hand off disabled and it is unable to maintain the ability to make/receive calls with hands free in my Jeep. I can delete all network settings and it work, but I lose functionality within 2 days. I do not believe this is an iPhone model specific issue, nor a specific vehicle issue. Many of the comments I've been reading in other locations, and others who I know who were part of the beta testing/development group have indicated that it worked very well in the versions they had prior to the release to the masses.

Everybody who's having issues needs to flood Apple with feedback indicating that it is not working as it should. Everyone should relay their own experiences and keep in mind that being civil and kind can go a long way to get problems resolved. I too am frustrated by the lack of operability between iOS 8, my phone and my vehicle, but what's equally frustrating and downright annoying is reading through many comments of people doing nothing more than venting and griping about their issues. There are solutions that have been suggested and it seems many of the people griping may not have even attempted the recommended fixes.

I have a 2012 Honda Civic Hybrid; I had posted before saying that my iPhone 6 was not connecting either by Bluetooth or USB. I tried "Reset All Settings" and cleared the handsfree system and repaired the phone. It successfully paired at first, but declined to "connect,' a pop-up coming up on the phone saying the bluetooth device I was trying to connect to was out of range, even though I was sitting in the driver's seat of the car. I could play music via Bluetooth or USB, but the phone would not connect. That was yesterday.

Today, I saw the Bluetooth symbol while I was driving somewhere. I hit the phone button and discovered my phone was connected. I pulled over and shut the car off and started it again to see if the car's HUD would give me the usual indication that my phone had connected when I start the car. It did. I had to set up my speed dial voice tags all over again and try a couple calls, but suddenly all is well with Apple again here . . .
