Car Bluetooth Connectivity Issue with iPhone 6

Just got the iPhone 6 on Friday -- very exciting! But I can't get the phone to connect to my Mini Countryman's bluetooth. The phone will detect the car's bluetooth signal, and says it's connected, but calls aren't audible via the car stereo system, but rather the phone itself. And if I don't turn the bluetooth off, my car thinks I'm on a call and the radio won't work.

It's frustrating because this feature use to work with my 5s. A friend of mine is having the same issue in his car. And I've seen others complain about this -- seems like an Apple issue. Not sure though.

Iphone 5 IOS 8. Since updating to 8, I am having bizarre problems with the phone in my car. When bluetooth connected, it starts to ring (always showing my husband's number on the car screen) but the control buttons on the car don't do anythng. I have to stop the car, turn off the engine and turn off the bluetooth to stop the call. The freaky thing is, my husband isn't calling. This happens constantly, so now I can't have bluetooth on in the car. My husband hasn't been calling, and neither his phone nor mine show any record of calls!!! I never had a problem before updating to IOS 8. Help! Audi A4 if that's any help! His phone is also an iphone 5 updated to IOS 8

My iphone 6 bluetooth would pair with my Lexus, but would not dial out. I spoke with Apple, they basically blamed my Lexus bluetooth and suggested it needed to be updated.(it is 2 years old) After getting iphone 6, I updated it from backup of old iphone 5S, and I believe the bluetooth settings for 5S were transferred over to iphone 6.

Here's what worked for me.....

1. Delete all bluetooth settings in your auto and on phone.

2. Now back up iphone to itunes.

3. Erase all content and settings from phone.

4. Set up phone as "NEW"

5. Go to auto and pair and test phone, it should work.

6. Now restore your phone from back-up on itunes you created in #2, not older backup.

Hope this works for you guys and gals. This whole issue is very un-Apple like.

Hi, i'm Angelo from Italy, same problem over here too!!!!

I had an iPhone5 updated to iOS8 and Bluetooth pairing did work on all my 3 cars (2012 Fiat 500, 2013 Lancia Y, 2010 Volvo XC60)... since I got the new iPhone6 it has been a nightmare! no way to connect the Bluetooth handsfree on all 3 cars... update to 8.0.2 did not solve the problem! it's not nice!

Yesterday I went to the near Apple Store with my Lancia, the girl from the store worked long time to manage the connection... then she was successfu!

Here is what she has done:

-canceled all devices from car and iPhone

-canceled all contacts from car

-switch off Bluetooth on iPhone

-disconnect iCloud on iPhone

-restore all settings on iPhone

-network settings restore on iPhone

-switch on bluetooth on iPhone

-pairing device... and it worked!!!!!

Coming home I canceled Bluetooth data on the the other 2 cars: Fiat 500 and the Volvo XC60 and paired the iPhone6... it worked!!!

I'm happy .... but I really think that's really too much, I wasn't expecting to spend so much efforts to make Bluetooth working on an a new Apple iPhone 6 worth over 1000$ (in Italy the price for an iPhone6 64G is 1050US$ 22%VAT included)

I hope this will help

ciao ciao, Angelo

I've got a similar issue, but not exact. iPhone 6, restored from an iPhone 4 backup. '09 Ford Flex with SYNC. The iPhone 4 worked perfectly. Possibly too perfectly, because it would start playing over BT the second I turned on the car. Now with the iPhone 6, there's a large delay (at least a minute, and sometimes longer) before it finds SYNC. I thought it was Downcast, but I switched over to Overcast, and that's showing the same thing, so it's not app-specific. Once it finds SYNC, everything works correctly. So I have to remember to leave a few minutes before I need to, to make sure the BT connection is gonna work. Frustrating.

Jon, this sounds similar to a problem that I had with delays in sync functions. Ultimately I figured it out by making sure that the "automatic phonebook download" was set to off. It's unnecessary to repeatedly download the same phone book over and over again, and the larger the phonebook the more data and time intensive this is. If you haven't already set this, give it a try. I hope that helps.

as far as getting Bluetooth telephone calls to work, I read through all these threads numerous times, and tried the most commonly described solution which was to "reset all settings" in the iPhone settings. I did this, then deleted the phone in sync, deleted sync from the phone's Bluetooth list, then I re-paired. This solved my problem completely and, so far, permanently.

I have Mercedes E250 CDI registered 6/2011 (live in the UK). I can pair my new iPhone 6, but as soon as I pair it, every 30 seconds it starts connecting out. There are no numbers stored so I have no idea where its connecting to. Each time it does this the radio stops and then starts again. I can't import the stored numbers either. The Pick up and Cancel buttons do not work either on the steering wheel or dashboard.
I had a iPhone 4S on IOS 8 which paired and imported the stored numbers just fine. My daughters IPhone 5 also works just fine.
Anyone have any solutions.
Apple, is his an Apple problem or a Mercedes problem which needs an upgrade of software.?

We have 2 cars only a few years old and 2 new iPhone 6+'s. I tried all the tricks on the apple forums and couldn't get the phones to connect in either car - very frustrating!! Contacted Apple support and the person I talked to was having the same problems and didn't have a solution. I would think Apple would be all over this considering it's a distraction to not have your phone work properly while you are driving. I'm not going to get a new car because my phone won't work. It's easier to get a different phone. After waiting 4 weeks to get the phones we returned them and hope Apple figures is out soon - Very Disappointed!!!. I have been a huge apple supporter since the Mac Plus but what a disappointment this company has turned out to be. What happened to Apple?
