Car Bluetooth Connectivity Issue with iPhone 6

Just got the iPhone 6 on Friday -- very exciting! But I can't get the phone to connect to my Mini Countryman's bluetooth. The phone will detect the car's bluetooth signal, and says it's connected, but calls aren't audible via the car stereo system, but rather the phone itself. And if I don't turn the bluetooth off, my car thinks I'm on a call and the radio won't work.

It's frustrating because this feature use to work with my 5s. A friend of mine is having the same issue in his car. And I've seen others complain about this -- seems like an Apple issue. Not sure though.

I'm having the same issue with my new iPhone 6 and my 2014 mini cooper's bluetooth connection. It drove me nuts today, I did pretty much everything that has been suggested in this post and it drops my calls. It's paired and connected to the car's bluetooth...I can dial a number but as soon as the person answers it drops the call from the car but it's still active on my phone. I had no issues with my iPhone 5 before however when I upgraded to iOS 8, I encountered something like this but I was able to make it work.

has anyone found a permanent fix??

I'm a new iPhone user. Just got an iPhone 6 and patched it to iOS 8.1. It will connect to both cars (2013 Lexus GS350 and 2015 GMC Yukon Denali). I can make and receive phone call. However, I do not get any notifications when I receive a text message.

This worked fine with me previous phones (Nokia 920 and HTC 8x, both running Windows 8). In fact, I could listen and reply to the text messages via voice (Bluetooth made a connection to Cortana). I expected the same functionality with Siri. I thought finally switching over to an iPhone was supposed to be a step forward, not a major step backwards. Please don't tell me I made a mistake switching from Windows to iOS...

I spoke too soon.... crazy problems with playing playlists.... most annoying is that when advancing to the next track, the music pauses instead. the pause can't be resumed via the car and the only way to start the music is on the phone itself. I have other non-bluetooth, non-auto problems with this phone and will take it back to Apple soon. Aaaarrruuuggghhhh
