iTunes does not see iOS8 devices over wifi

I installed iOS8 on my iPhone 4S and iPad mini and now iTunes (11.4 (18)) on my iMac no longer sees these devices unless I attach them via USB. I have tried rebooting the router, the Mac and the devices. I have reinstalled iTunes. I have checked that the appropriate settings for wifi sync are correctly set on all machines. Any suggestions?

They won't work for long, the only reason it worked is because when you upgrade you reboot your device this is the only solution to the problem and its a temporary one at best. This is definitely iOS8 related I have an 4s hooked into my car with iOS 7, my iMac always sees this one and none of the others until I reboot them. total pain in the rear every time I add a cd to my music collection.

Solution presented by another post:

1). Deactivate and activate "Handoff" under Settings/General on you iDevice

2). Deactivate and activate "Messages" under Settings on you iDevice

3). Deactivate and activate "FaceTime" under Settings on you iDevice

4). Restart iDevice AND your computer running iTunes.

5). After iDevice and Computer booted. Start iTunes.

Works for me. 🙂

Yes, this works. Once. If you turn off, turn on, restart the computer and phone, this works.

But we shouldn't have to do this every time we want to sync the phone! If the phone is hooked to power and iTunes is launched, it should "see" my phone and begin syncing quickly.

This used to work flawlessly prior to iOS 8. I'm tired of temporary workarounds.

This fix worked: http://osxdaily.com/2013/02/17/wi-fi-sync-not-working-fix-ios/

But the same is true with this fix as the other ones posted in this thread (i.e. "turn iMessage on/off, Facetime off/on, etc). It works the day you try it, and all day as long you don't shut down and/or change wireless networks.

When I go home from work, then come back the next day and hook up my iPhone to power and launch iTunes, still no automatic sync. This is definitely an iOS 8 issue, as my syncing worked flawlessly in iOS 7 and prior.
