iTunes does not see iOS8 devices over wifi

I installed iOS8 on my iPhone 4S and iPad mini and now iTunes (11.4 (18)) on my iMac no longer sees these devices unless I attach them via USB. I have tried rebooting the router, the Mac and the devices. I have reinstalled iTunes. I have checked that the appropriate settings for wifi sync are correctly set on all machines. Any suggestions?

Sorry to have to say this but iTunes is not picking up my iPad mini retina on the Mac AGAIN despite running 8.0.2 and iTunes 11.4.

Wireless syncing to iCloud works but I have to sync over USB to see the iPad on the Mac.

Two iPods running IOS 5.x are picked up instantly, one of which is in my car about 20 feet from my Mac...

No doubt Apple will fix this but really...

I had this repeat problem this morning on my iPad mini. I rebooted it and it was visible to iTunes again. Try this.

Apple's recent software releases have been problematic. The complexity of the environment -- multiple operating systems, multiple devices, etc. -- along with the fact that iTunes has become an operating system within an operating system, may be problem. Not sure how they get themselves out of this especially as they are adding more devices and feel the need to introduce OS "improvements" annually.

I know that Settings>General>iTunes WiFi Sync says that the device has to be on power but I have found that it isn't necessary.

I have an iPhone 4S and an iPad mini both on iOS 8.0.2 and they appear in iTunes (on my iMac) under Devices via wifi and they sync via wifi. I just tested this to be certain.

As far as I can tell the solution to the wifi problem between iTunes and iDevices is (a) install 8.0.2 and (b) power all the devices (including the Mac) off then on.

This fix seems to work: http://osxdaily.com/2013/02/17/wi-fi-sync-not-working-fix-ios/

The iPad appeared in the iTunes sidebar on my Mac and I was able to run a "backup now to this computer" manually as well as the Wireless sync to iCloud.

I quit iTunes and relaunched (twice) and ALL iDevices appeared in iTunes.

Will check daily and report if anything amiss.
