usb connectivity in car not working after ios 8 update

Hi,

I can no longer access music on my iPhone 5 via the USB connectivity in my 2014 Chrysler 300 since I updated to ios 8. Before the update this feature was operating without any issues.

Is this happening to anyone else? If so is Apple aware of this issue?

Same problem here in my wife's Nissan Juke. If I try to connect the 5s, it just connects and disconnects repeatedly.

Here's the weird thing, though. I just bought a Phonesuit Elite battery case because I was going to be going places where I wouldn't be able to charge for a while. When my 5s is in the suit and I connect the battery case to the car via the micro-USB port, it works fine!

Add another to the list with my iPhone 5C.. But thought it might correct itself when the IOS 8.0.2 came out. Well it did. One time........ GRRRRR Now back to the same issues as everyone else. Not in my 2012 or my 2014 Challenger with the 730N head unit. Works with everything else though. I wish Apple would recognize this problem as well. Being able to control my phone from the steering wheel was a large factor in my buying decision to begin with. C'mon Apple, Get on the ball!! I did report to feedback as well so we'll see what happens.. Not expecting much unfortunately...

After upgrading my iPhone to iOS 8, when I connect my iPhone 4S on my car via USB, the radio system tries to recognize it as an iPod as always. But after 10 seconds the system switches to FM showing some iPod error message. The iPhone continues to charge but no connection with the radio system is stablished. For me, the solution was:

Start the Music app, play any music and then connect the cable. It doesn't work with any other music app, I tried some of them including Spotify. If you just start the Music app and don't play any music, when you plug the cable the connection will not establish as well.

As I said, I had this problem with my old iPhone 4S. I live in Brazil and my radio system is provided by Fiat (Punto Sporting 2015).

I tried resetting the iPhone, but none of the suggestions helped to fix the problem. Sorry.

Good Luck!

I'm also having this issue - iphone 5s Nissan Dualis.
Before upgrading to ios 8.0.1 never had connection issues via lightening usb. Worked once after upgrading again to 8.0.2 but now back to connection error when plugged in via lightening cable. Has anyone had any response to their feedback requests to apple? Would really appreciate this to be sorted asap. I'm going to lodge support and feedback details now.

Just to chime in: I have an iPhone 5 and a Mitsubishi ASX. Everything worked fine, before iOS 8, I would connect my phone to the USB port, and then control everything from the steering wheel: next and previous track, volume, etc. I could even select playlists or specific songs and all that.

Now... it behaves erratically: sometimes it reports only 1 track or 4, or 6 (I have around 200 on my phone, right now). It rarely starts playing by itself, I need to go into the music app and hit play. The track skipping doesn't work, it just changes the numbers on the car stereo screen, but the tracks don't actually change on my phone. It's a huge mess!

If I reboot my phone, it works! everything works after a reboot. But the next day, it's all back to being a huge mess... until I reboot again.

Hi there,

I have the same issue. I have a 2013 Chrysler 300C that worked seamlessly with my iPhone 5S and iOS7. Until a day or so ago my iPhone 6 was working fine too. Today, it seems to be having Bluetooth connectivity issues. The bluetooth will pair just fine, but when the phone rings, I can't answer it with the Uconnect system.

If I manually answer it by picking up the iPhone, the sound will not come through my in-car system even though it says the Bluetooth is connected (on both the iPhone 6 and the car). Iv'e tried pairing it about 5 times with the same outcome. Whilst "Resetting All Settings" worked, I'm sure I will have this issue again tomorrow. I'll keep you posted. Unfortunately I didn't try this with my iPhone 5S after updating iOS 8 so I don't know whether this is an iPhone 6 or iPhone 5 issue.

I've submitted my feedback to Apple (through the link provided) and will try get in touch with Chrysler to see if there's anything they can do on their end, or if they are aware of the issue. My guess is it has something to do with the Bluetooth technology Apple are using. This is a shame...C'mon Apple, play nice.

Cheers

I'm having the same issue with iOS8.0.2 in my 2014 GMC Terrain with the iPhone 5 via USB. Worked fine with 8.0 initally. This is very frustrating as I am in my car for 3-4 hours per day! I have reset all settings to no avail. Next, I will try another factory reset. I also have an appointment with the dealership in a few days to ensure there isn't an update to my in-car software. If that doesn't work, when I'm due to upgrade in February, I will NOT be getting another iPhone. This is frustrating.
