iPhone 6 Plus Keeps Crashing PLEASE HELP!

I am a huge Apple fan, so I ask this question wishing and hoping my iPhone 6 Plus would just perform the way I know it should be.

Since restoring from my old iPhone 5S backup onto my 6 Plus 128GB (AT&T) running iOS 8.0, my 6 Plus is laggy (animations are very slow and stutter), freezy (after hitting "done" it often freezes for a good five seconds before registering the click), buggy (the keyboard sometimes doesn't appear at all, the "halos" around the folders on the home screen sometimes appear and sometimes don't, seems totally arbitrary), and crashy (whenever doing certain tasks like fast app switching, trying to change wallpaper, and others, the phone crashes, turns off the radios, then shows the Apple screen before rebooting). The crashing is happening once every five to ten minutes, making the phone VERY FRUSTRATING TO USE.

I have tried manually restarting the phone, HOME + SLEEP reset to the Apple screen, and restoring again...My next step is a factory reset and manual reinstallation of all my apps again, which is making me sick just thinking about it...

All of these things scream SOFTWARE to me, but what do I know...is anyone else experiencing these issues on the 6 Plus? Should I just be waiting for an OS update, or did I just get a lemon phone? As I said, I love Apple, and this is not a post to flame (so please save your "Go buy an Android" for someone who cares). I just want my shiny new phone to work!!! Any help is appreciated.

Same issue with iPhone 5, iOS 8.1, keep on crash/freeze even when i am not talking on the phone or working with apps. it shows the Apple Logo for 40-60 seconds and coming back to life. while talking on the phone it is not disconcerting the call, when it is coming back to life the other person on the line still talking or asking if i was on mute...

It happening 5-7 times a day (or even more when i am not using the phone...)

Any suggestions? Similar issues?

Same problems with a Iphone 6 plus 128 Gb. 140 Apps, not much media. Free space more than 90 Gb.

It was start reboot randomly, red screen (full, not full screen, with lines or with a bloody slur like in a horror film), seldom - blue screen.

It starts at 24 Oct and driven me crazy strong. I was:

- restore fabric settings (saving media content) - same result after 1-2 hrs of working

- hard reset (from Iphone) - and restore profile from Icloud - same result

- hard reset (from ITunes on PC) - download and restore past IOS - than restore local full backup - same result.

it can go to reboot after:

- use pin-code (required after reboot - no can use fingerprint).

- randomly in any moment.

- after use Power button for waiky after sleep mode.

I make issue to Apple and tomorrow call them.

Summary (after reading all messages in this topic):

- Most impact of this problem with rebooting, red/blue screen is for Iphone 6+ 128 Gb, and not same much - for Iphone 6+ 64 Gb;

- Doesn't matter: new device, or restore from backup (local or ICloud);

- Doesn't matter how much apps are installed;

- Doesn't matter about volume or type of media;

- Some devices warming.

Some time I cant use device.

Can helps:

- power off device (push together Home and Power buttons for a 10 seconds) and wait some time (about 10 mins or more...)

- cooling Iphone - put device into the freeze camera (-23 C) for a 5-10 minutes. I pack device to a plastic bag - squeeze for air out and lock bag! (because condensate can damage device! - especially for warm and high humidity countries/areas) - after that it start 100%. (and you can make with device all that you want: restore, reset, hard reset etc).

I'm working in IT industry and mean, that's software problem of compatible with a third-side-develop apps, IOS and RAM.

I'll waiting news from Apple - because I don't understand, why I need to have a headache with a top-device, costs in Russia about 1000 Euro?

Hey folks,

Possibly more than 2 problems begin discussed.

But mine was of the respring (quick crash) a few times a day variety, and in the past 3 days no crashes after following apple support's advice of doing a backup and full restore. I recommend this if you have done iphone-based upgrades (OTA) rather than itunes based ones (in which the entire OS is downloaded and loaded onto the phone). I think some folks have tried that and not solved their problems but for me looks like it worked (so far).

Just an update on this. I have deleted 100 apps from my phone so I am on 650 rather than 750. I have now suffered only 1 respring in the last 48 hours. Before this it was 3-6 resprings every day. May be a coincidence but I think something has definitely improved. Also I now get the proper launchimages showing when starting an app rather than a zoomed icon.

I do wonder if this is some kind of indexing issue. My spotlight now immediately shows apps with their icons rather than default developer icons Which it often did before.

same case for me, i have +500 apps, i deleted around 100 apps and now it is stable for 48 hours without any "restarts"

The iPhone still freeze for a few seconds from time to time but there is no "restart" with Apple Logo.

Issue need to be fixed - it is SW issues on iPhone with many apps installed that couching the core to crash in iOS 8.1

I know a lot of you are saying you are having problems with the 128GB version, but I am having the same problem with my 64GB iPhone Plus with a mere 230 apps. Frequent random restarts and other odd behavior. After reading through this thread I performed a full backup and restore, and I just now had a random restart while reading a webpage in Safari. Not sure what else to try it now except wait to see if another future software update will fix it. I'm going to start logging when I have problems and see if there's a pattern.

As indicated in September, I have, too, this problem on an iPhone 6 64 go.

Having tried everything : reset, restore as new iPhone, etc.

After it worked 10 days...

The problems then started again: after contact with Apple, this one proceeded to an exchange.

I specify that the problems occurred with only 112 applications.

Since no problem: installation from a backup, same number of applications.

First installation was from a iPhone 5S backup, second from an iPhone 6 backup.

I too have this issue with my phone for a month. (activated on late September)

At first, I did not check this thread and though that was caused by new iOS8 and would be fixed pretty soon. And I am quite happy with other apple product so I wasn't believe it was a hardware issue. However, even after IOS8.1 upgrade, the phone still crash almost every single day.

Unlike others, my phone was not restored from any form of backup, it is a brand new phone with just like 20 app installed.

And Yes, it is a 128GB model and with around 105GB free space.

In view of all affected model are all 128GB, my wild guess that it would be a memory management bug. So I approach Apple for replacement?

But I cant accept in anyway that they may replace with a repair unit for this USD$1000 up phone because of their poor design.

Hey y'all,

Like all of you, this has been an entire nightmare. FYI, I sent an email to the top 7-8 Apple blogs that resulted in Apple Insider picking up on the story. Seeing as we weren't getting anywhere dealing with Apple directly, I felt it could only help our cause by getting the issue out in the public domain. But actions speak louder than words - the hard truth is that given the unanticipated levels of demand, we are just a tiny percentage of customers who load enough apps on the phones to trigger the crashing issues - it if had been an important enough problem, Apple would have fixed it with 8.1. Through numerous calls, chats and genius bar visits, the only thing Apple has been willing to do regarding the issue is to replace the phone (I'm on 6 plus #5 - the original purchase plus 4 subsequent replacements) - which obviously has not done any good given that it's a software/operating system issue. In a recent discussion with the manager of a flagship store in SoCal, there has been admission that the engineers are aware of the problem (duh), but are not giving any indication if/when it will be addressed (which is their standard operating procedure when dealing with such problems).

Throughout this process, Apple service has ranged from very good to absolutely terrible (an example of the latter - when the phone was exchanged the first time, the Apple rep indicated that the remaining term of my Apple Care would be voided with physical replacement of the phone - even though the cause of the replacement was an Apple defect - however, after two subsequent hours of heated discussion, my Apple Care ended up remaining in place). And a final tremendous cause of frustration - when the 8.1 update did not fix this problem (and the apparent lack of importance of this issue it implied), I waved the white flag of surrender - I requested that my 6 plus be exchanged for a regular 6 - I refuse to be an Apple apologist and accept finding a way to work around a flaw in the represented/intended performance of the phone. Although there was a reluctant agreement to my request (more of a demand really) and there were plenty of those phones in stock at the time, it was Apple's position that replacement/exchange of one version of the phone for another needed to be handled through a separate process - there was an unwillingness to exchange the plus for a regular 6 that was in stock, and I would have to wait until another phone 6 was requested/shipped to the store for the purpose of my requested exchange (oh, and that it would take a week or more for that phone to actually arrive, even though they were getting daily inventory restock shipments of the phone) - I'm 5 days in and still waiting. In the meantime, I have gone back to my 5s, which continues to work flawlessly with 1,000+ apps - first with IOS 7, and now with IOS 8.

I wish you all the best, will continue to monitor the topic and post any helpful information should it come my way. Cheers.
