Apple pay can only be used with the iPhone 6 or 6plus, or with the Apple watch in combination with an iPhone 6, 6plus, 5s, 5c, and iPhone 5:

So, no iPhone 4s or 4, and an iPhone 5, 5c, 5s only if you have the Apple Watch paired.

If you want to think on a "bigger scale", why are you wasting your time of such a trivial issue? You're really playing out of your league here.

I honestly thought he might have gotten it and went away. But no, he still wants to show how uninformed he is and continue to publicly embarrass himself.

Yeah me too. And I really should just let the poor fellow believe he's going to make Apple change the "error of their ways!" But then, when someone simply has no clue what's real, it's just so darn tooting easy to play........

Again do not assume that i have no clue. I would unleash on you for what you have just written but this is that the place to express my emotions. Thats trying to make your hero members on this forum to think outside the box and think of the bigger scale.

Feel free to unleash on me Vernz. I could care less.........

Waste of words mate.

Publicly embarrass myself you say, misinformed. I haven't not even began to start what i want to say. Due to all you trolls try to shut me down. I know my technology and the understands of this. But you people seem to argue and think i do not know. THINK AGAIN.

LOL......OK Vernz

But this should make you happy. This has been one of the singularly most wasteful and odd threads I've ever participated in. There is no point in continuing the discussion. I won't follow the thread further and I wish you luck in your quest for what you'll never get, unless you buy a new phone.

Best wishes to you Vernz

How is this a useless discussion, you seem not to be understanding at all. NFC chip or no NFC chip, the payment should work for all devices. Do you understand?????

Sweetie pie, you're the one who is confused. A touchless pay system needs security. NFC is what merchants and banks seem to have settled on. Without the chip there is no security for the payments. And that would be BAD. As in VERY BAD.

Run along and invent your own system that doesn't require hardware security. Then, get it patented. Then, convince banks, merchants and credit card companies to use it. That is the only way you'll "win" your fight. Apple doesn't have to do offer this system at all. As it is their system, they can roll it out however they chose. They are not required to make it backwards compatible with old hardware. When you become an adult, you may learn that just because you want something doesn't meant the world or anyone in it is obligated to give it to you.

LOL......Sorry Vernz. This is a useless discussion.

Just how do you propose then that a Phone without an NFC chip connect with an NFC receiver?

These receivers in the stores are not made by Apple. They are not set in the stores by Apple. This is a technology the Banks and stores decided could be used for secure wireless payments. You need the NFC chip to be able to use the wireless payment system because the Banks and stores decided this would be the way it would work and have the necessary security.

Apple needs to conform to those specification if they want to use the wireless payment system that is already in place.

Without an NFC chip there is no way to communicate with the NFC terminal to process the payment.

Its like trying to send an email from a piece of paper. The Piece of of paper does not have he ability to send itself magically.

I know this is probably futile, but I thought I'd give it a shot any way.
