IPAD2 very slow after IOS 8 upgrade

After IOS 8 upgrade many aplications ( Safari, Facebook, etc) load very, very slow (comparing with 7 version) , with a significant delay of more than 10 seconds...

Who can I solve this problem? Any workaround?

PD

Apple should better test the software before delivering.

Thanks.

I am not saying they are totally unreliable. I am saying that anybody who really cares about protecting their precious data need to have a few extra backup strategies, as you would find out quickly if you found someone had stolen your Mac, you iOS device AND your TimeCapsule. Most of the time this won't happen, but remember that Apple (as with GoogleDrive) will put no guarantee on you loosing your data through bad luck, stupidity, theft or a blind belief. But trust what you wish. Just don't cry back here if it happens.

I've always instructed our clients to NOT use one type of backup. I know that Timemachine can and does fail for instance - I've seen that many times. However, I only serve as a consultant for the iThings (iPad/iPhone) - those are generally not under my control in the business networks. So many of them are bring your own device type environments, so unless they need help getting it to recognize their server, or loading an oddball app and configuring it, or even repairing a broken display, we don't even touch them. We send out emails and have documents we distribute which give best practices, but do the end users see them? I doubt it.

The three people who I encountered last week with lost documents had all backed up prior to the update, multiple times. But had simply used the cloud backup and the iTunes backup on their computers. They did not utilize a 3rd party app. Nor did I.

All my emails are on my Exchange server, I can't lose those, short of a disaster that affects 1000 miles from here 8-)... The apps, I can redownload and reconfigure. Photos are mostly all on Dropbox/Copy as well as the iPad, which means they are on 3 desktops I use, and those desktops are imaged to our NAS and remote backups and redundant servers. Leaving my notes... That's the only thing I didn't have some form of multiple backup of...
I'm not going to cry over them.

iOS8 vandalised my iPad2!

if this is how apple treat their customers I am never buying an apple device ever again.

So what troubleshooting steps have you taken? There are many on these forums which have solved iPad2 users issues. What have you tried so far?

I tried turning it off and on again, first (of course). Then I tried a reset, holding sleep/wake and home button until apple logo appeared. Then I tried deleting apps I don't use, and deleting unnecessary photos (I hoped clearing space might improve performance) - no improvement. Then I tried turning off movement and transparency - again no improvement.

Safari is the worst - it fails to load pages 60% of the time, and has terrible lags on sites I use frequently, like Facebook, where whole aspects of the page suddenly disappear for no apparent reason, or the page freezes, until the entire browser crashes, often losing messages I was in the middle of writing.

Here's a real simple secondary backup for PDF files in iBooks ... as you get them (and I know people accumulate them over time), you just send yourself a copy in your e-mail. Create a folder in your e-mail account called PDF Backup. Then, if something happens to your primary backup, you've got your secondard backup.

Amido,

Just to warn you: I've tried EVERYTHING on these forums since I downloaded the "update" in September. I've wasted probably 2-3 days in total, even making trips to the Apple Store. The best you'll be able to do is lessen the damage some, but you will not get anywhere near the functionality you had with iOS7.

There are two or three people on this forum that say it's our fault, and defend Apple.

Get ready for some frustration.

But you fail to mention all those iPad2 owners who have all fixed AND posted their fixes here on this thread as well as others. Sure you can sit back and be an armchair critic because either you cannot bother trying the fixes or simply refuse to as you would rather hope an Apple Fairy drops in and does it for you, or you can try being a little more proactive in your approach to your device. Doesn't bother me either way. I have my iPad2 purring along nicely, but then again I tried a couple of things mentioned here very early on and they solved my issue.

Whatever your issue is, I suggest trying a similar thing. 🙂

Cheers

I've read most of this thread, and tried most of the "fixes" and they have not worked.

i already replied to your earlier comment telling you the steps I have tried.here it is again.

Nothing is working, my iPad is ruined. It's horrible to use now.

That's been discussed here on this forum many times. It's a problem with the forum software. And there are a number of other glitches in the forum software.

AND ... in mentioning this ... it shows how people can EASILY CONFUSE one problem for something else, totally unrelated. If you do tech support, you find that this type of confusion happens all the time.

I'll give you a procedure and a troubleshooting methodology if you're interested. A lot of users here have gotten only part way through this procedure and have solved their problem. Others have had to go a little bit further, and others further still ... but it is a reliable and trustworthy methodology for getting it fixed.

People are saying it's not fixing it though. And what will 8.1.1 fix?

It's also pretty bad with people loosing PDFs, with there being no warning about the possibility. Apple often makes people feel that everything is safe, so they go ahead and update.

I've completely reset my iPad 2, and restored software from a backup as suggested. Going on the Internet still makes me want to scream at the pad. This is on Safari and Chrome, both equally bad - it just freezes while scrolling even on advert free pages like the BBC. But when advert pages do load in, all those Facebook and Twitter links and adverts just freeze it momentarily, and some pages I just give up on. I'm sure it didn't do that on iOS 7.

Perhaps the HTML or JS stuff has been left in Debug mode?! 😮🙂

No, it also does it on other sites. Anything that requires input, the first characters appear twice so its not just this forum.

It did it in iOS7 as well. In fact it has done it (only on this site) since whoever does Apple's Website changed the design. It has been mentioned hundreds of times. Annoying.? Yes. iOS8 relate? No. And have never seen it on another site. Can you please link us too another site where it also does it?

Thanks in Advance
