2014 Subaru Outback Pairing Bluetooth IOS 8, iPhone 6

I cannot get my iPhone 6 with IOS 8 to work properly with my cars Bluetooth option. The phone pairs correctly but will not dial out over the car speakers and I'm unable to answer incoming calls.

Anyone else having this problem?

Do you have the navigation system? I don't know how to delete using the button on my steering wheel. I hit the button, it just asks if I want too connect a phone. When I look under registered devices, phones and audio devices there is nothing there but "empty", but when I connecT my phone it doesn't ask for the passcode and there is still a phantom call that appears with my friends phone number. Ahhhhhhh! I even changed the name of my phone. I am so frustrated.

Steinable's post = ABSOLUTELY WORKS. It's tedious but if you follow the instructions above verbatim, it does work, and nothing else did. In fact, I'm pretty sure that I didn't have to reset ANYTHING, this is ALL Subaru, not iPhone or iOS8. Worked PERFECTLY without issue in another vehicle. I love my Subaru but I HATE the fact that I have to delete the iPhone in two places, and this is NOT the first time I had to do it. Thankfully I didn't have to call Apple or Subaru or update anything, just needed to follow directions. Thank you Steinagle.

Steinable's post totally works. I have a 2014 Subaru CrossTrek, and going through the tedious process of deleting a device through the steering wheel, in addition to deleting the device through the stereo (two devices deletions!) totally worked. The phone connects automatically like a charm now. I did not see any reference to this in the owner's manual, nor anywhere else other than this forum.

STEINABLES POST TOTALLY WORKS ---ADD ON!! delete ALL saved phones

I've been having to pair manually every time I get in my car. Very Annoying

So I got into my car to do the hands free delete and pair with my phone. What I found was that there were 3 phones saved; iPhone 5, iPhone 6, and iPhone

6*. .....I could only see one when I selected it manually on the stereo but by doing it with the hands free I found the 3 iPhones saved which was causing it to not pair automatically. So here's what I did. In the options menu say command (LIST). Viewed all phones stored. Next I went into command (DELETE) to delete all saved phones. I had to say iPhone 3 times to delete them all, some one was saved as (my voice) iPhone and the other my iPhone and the other iPhone 5. Next I went into command (PAIR) and set it up and like magic it worked! After turning the car on and off several times it finally auto connected every time.....just like before. Delete them all and start over following Steinables post. Worked for me in my 2012 Forester

Hope this helps

I have a 2013 Subaru Legacy with the nav system. Here was my solution:

1. Go to "settings"

2. Bluetooth settings

3. Under device settings there is a submenu allowing one to alter the connection to be from "head unit" (the car) to "device" (your phone). When I found this toggle and then changed the connection to be on the phone, I was able to connect, and a window popped up to allow pairing on my iPhone6.

I hope this helps someone out there.

After updating software to 8.0.2 on my IPhone 5 I was unable to use the Bluetooth feature in my 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee. I was able to obtain assistance from Apple's telephone support folks. They had me go into settings>general>reset. After resetting I was able to use the phone via Bluetooth in my car again. Only had to reset to my wireless network at home as a result of the reset.

I have a renault Clio and had no issues until the latest iOS 8. After trying re-pairing, resetting, and testing with 2 x5C's, a 5s and an iPhone 6 plus, as well as our home phone making calls the only solution I have found is the following. (Not sure if it applies to you.)

ALL the above phones were logged in to the same apple ID iCloud. The moment I logged any of the phones out of iCloud THAT particular phone would work. It appears that there is a glitch in the iOS 8 that "confuses" the devices if they are the same apple ID. AS we have 4 phones and multiple other devices running on the same ID they need to fix it soon!

Same thing with my 2013 Outback. Audio worked, Siri worked, but when I'd dial a number, it wouldn't come out of the speakers or the phone. iPhone 6 Plus, and audio set type B.

So... on the phone I went to Settings --> General --> Reset --> Reset All Settings and did that (note: *not* reset content, just reset settings) You'll have to re-enter your wifi password, AppleID password, and make a new phone password and re-do your TouchID after this, which isn't too big a hassle.

Then, I turned off bluetooth on my phone. Went to the car, and deleted the phone using the steering wheel controls. I went to delete it using the menu knob, but there wasn't anything to delete after doing it from the steering wheel.

Then I turned on bluetooth on the phone, and went through the phone setup process using the steering wheel controls. Success! Dialing works fine, phone calls work fine, and playing music works fine! It reconnects automatically after leaving the car just fine. I did not have to do any more pairing from the knobs or anything. I guess with the type B audio set you don't have to - it only handles one phone at a time, maybe that's why, but anyway my phone and my car are talking together as always and I'm happy.

Good luck.

I Completely restored my phone and then put all apps settingas and music back on by hand. Then my iPhone 6 started working. However since then I have downloaded some music from the iTunes store and now my Bluetooth doesn't work again. The music works Bluetooth but I can't answer incoming calls ( the answer button doesn't even appear) and I can't make outgoing calls either. I see people saying about using the steering wheel but I actually have the full GPS package with the touch screen and that doesn't work for me either. the Subaru dealer tried to help too and said that all of their cars even the 2015s are having issues with them. Guess I have to call Apple AGAIN. UGH!!!

I have a 2015 Legacy and a 2015 Outback. Same problems as described. Can listen to music, but an involuntary call locks up my phone and voice controls. I have tried but do not understand the posts about using the steering wheel to find and eliminated redundant phones. Apple finally provided the following instructions AND THEY WORKED! One thing I'd add is that if you get an error message when trying to exit icloud, is first close out of all apps running in the background Double-click home key; swipe up.)

  1. 1. Sign in to iCloud on your iOS devices.
  2. 2. On one of your devices, tap Settings > Bluetooth and look under My Devices. You'll see all devices that are connected to Bluetooth, but make sure that you see your Apple devices that are signed in to iCloud and are using iOS 8.
  3. 3. Sign out of your iCloud account from any devices that you don't want to use. To sign out of iCloud on an iOS device, tap Settings > iCloud > Sign Out.

Then, remove any inactive devices from iCloud:

  1. 1. Sign in to iCloud.com.
  2. 2. Select Find My iPhone.
  3. 3. Select any devices that aren't active anymore.
  4. 4. Wait for Find My iPhone to stop trying to find the inactive device.
  5. 5. You should see the option to remove this device from your account. Select it to remove the device.
