2014 Subaru Outback Pairing Bluetooth IOS 8, iPhone 6

I cannot get my iPhone 6 with IOS 8 to work properly with my cars Bluetooth option. The phone pairs correctly but will not dial out over the car speakers and I'm unable to answer incoming calls.

Anyone else having this problem?

I found a solution which worked for me with this issue.

I have a 2013 Subaru Outback and I was having bluetooth pairing issues with my iPhone 6 Plus. I could pair but the next time I started the car, it would not repair automatically. The iOS 8.1 update did not fix the problem. I had performed the pairing using the Menu button on my audio console. Here's the solution I found.

1. I used the Menu button to delete the old pairing. I turned off the car.

2. I deleted the paired connection on my iPhone. I switched off Bluetooth and restarted both the car and the iPhone.

3. I turned on Bluetooth on the iPhone.

4. This time I used voice control on the Subaru instead of the Menu button. My voice commands were Bluetooth Setup-->Phone Setup-->Pair Phone.

5. I completed the pairing on the iPhone, entering the passkey. The pairing was successful.

6. I turned off the car. A few minutes later, I turned it on and - voila - the connection was reestablished. Over the last two days, the connection has been successfully reestablished maybe nine times.

I called my Subaru service rep just to give him this info in case anyone else was having the same problem. He said that generally speaking, it's a better idea on a Subaru to use voice commands to pair. Don't ask me why. Anyway, it works.

I hope this helps others with the same problem!

Holy cow, fdbaird, you rock. This has been driving me crazy for weeks now, so I just went out to my car and tried it that way, paired it, turned car off, then on again, it reconnected (it's done that before, but never on the third time), turned off again, turned on, and it connected again! I'll see how it is in the morning, but I think that's it, and if so, thank you so much.

I have a 2011 Impreza Outback Sport, and it is so far working for me.

"It turns out that the old phone profile was deleted in the stereo but not completely deleted in the system. You'll notice that when you go and delete from the steering wheel, the old iPhone profile still exists. Once that old profile is deleted you can register your new iPhone properly."

I had this same situation in my 2014 Subaru Forester - iPhone 5 running iOS7.

I had to get a replacement phone so I restored from my backup.

After that the phone refused to automatically pair with the car. I would have to manually pair it every time. This is all pre-iphone 6 and iOS 8.

After reading this thread I tried deleting the the phone profile from the stereo AND the handsfree interface through the steering wheel and then paired the phone again.

Now the phone is connecting automatically. 🙂

I had Subaru (2013 Outback and Legacy) Bluetooth problems when I upgraded an Android phone to 4.4.2. I called Subaru national tech support. She asked if I had a Verizon phone, I said yes. She said to change the pass code to 0000 from the default 1234. I deleted the paired devices in the radio and phone and started from scratch.

Viola, all the Bluetooth problems went away. She said this was a known Verizon problem with Verizon phones and Subaru Type-A entertainment systems.

When I got an iPhone 6 I didn't even have to enter the 0000 pass code. The system paired automatically. This was also true for two other Android phones with 4.4.4. I tried switching back to 1234 for the pass code and had problems with the iPhone 6 and the other two Androids with 4.4.4.
