Why does Siri bluetooth connection in 2008 Toyota Prius with iOS 8 terminate outgoing call with message "call terminated by network" on Prius screen

Since installing iOS 8 , we can't get Siri to make outgoing calls with the Prius Bluetooth. Incoming calls work, but we get a message on the Prius screen, "call terminated by network" whenever we tell Siri to call out. She will recognize who we're calling, but as soon as the dialing starts, we get the call terminated message.

Any similar experience or ideas?

Has nothing to do with JBL. This is a BT issue and the problem lies with Apple. It all worked fine before 8. BT is backwards compatible regarding industry wide BT. Apple plucked things up with the 8 upgrade and will be liable soon for any accidents or deaths caused by this. The aggressive attorneys are awaiting a feeding frenzy. It's Apple! They suck at times!

I have a 2006 Lexus IS350 with the exact same issue, have had multiple marathon conversations with Apple, Apple Store, downloaded all updates, reset settings multiple times. Nothing but crickets from Apple...it is clear that Apple does not care, this is the absolute worst rollout I've seen and I have had all models of iPhones. IOS8...what a piece of crap

UPDATE: Lexus just called me, there is no update for earlier model Lexus vehicles, the Tech Specialist told me the only way for this to work is to revert back to IOS7.

Update: Just tried 8.1.1 it DID NOT WORK, still the same problem as identified by the original poster.

With great anticipation I just tried 8.1.1, it has the same problem of disconnecting as identified by the OP. I also took the extra steps of deleting my iPhone in the Prius and the Prius handsfree in my iPhone.

There is no reverting to an earlier version if I traded in my old iPhone 5s for an iPhone 6. The phone could be teriffic if Apple would resolve this serious safety issue. Now it's almost worthless while in the car- 2007 Lexus ES which I paid a small fortune for the navigation which I did upgrade with a DVD and Bluetooth package which shouldn't need and can't be upgraded- Tried a friends Smasing Galaxy 5. Works smoothly- no problem! New Technology.

WIth all the other problems and issues in life, this annoyance is sickening.

Apple is supposed to make things easier, not impossible!

This stinks! Be vocal and be loud my associates in dysfunction- Aople dysfunction!

i know I have!

Postings to this discussion have suddenly stopped. Am I to assume the problem has been solved or have users simply given up?

I did take the step of calling the technician responsible for car phone issues at my Toyota dealer and there is no firmware update for my vehicle.

All steps recommended in the Toyota service bulletin were taken. I stopped briefly by the Apple Store near me and they said they might be able to run some diagnostic tests with Bluetooth. It was a zoo there because it was Black Friday so I will try again when they are less busy. Not to slight customer support but if there is a solution I think I have a better chance at the Apple Store where they can be physically hands on with the device.

Frankly, I give this less than a 5% chance of success. Why? Because the problem appears to be with the release and not with the device configuration. The usual protocol for solving this kind of problem has already been followed. The Apple Store can't do magic and we're starting to chase the tail end of the probability distribution of likely solutions. Not the most cost effective way of proceeding.

Has anyone on this forum been succesful in solving this for a 2007 Prius? Or a 2008 Prius? We know the firmware on a 2007 Prius can't be updated.

The overwhelming majority of the calls I make with my iPhone use hands free dialing with SIRI while I am driving on the freeway in California and can't pull over to place a call. If this problem is not solved soon as a pragmatic matter I will have to cut my losses and replace the phone with one that is not an Apple device. It's gone past being a customer satisfaction issue. I need to be able to place calls from my car while driving and Apple is no longer able to fulfill that need. I don't have any other choice.

If anyone following this forum knows how to escalate this to a higher level in the Apple management chain please come forward. I have to make a decision and the clock is ticking.

It's also the holiday season. People are doing stuff besides being at their computer . Apple's employees are probably doing the same. 😉

We aslo don't have visibility into their priority setting process so it's tough to say when a fix would come out. With this latest release of iOS 8, it feels like they have been putting out more and more fixes as they are available. I'm not sure if they are moving towards a more agile methodology of deploying releases or what, but it feels like fixes are coming pretty frequently.

I have a 2008 Toyota Tundra. What's interesting, reading through the posts, is that it seems that depending on the make of the vehicle the Bluetooth issue that occurs is different. With Toyota's the consistent issue seems to be "Call Terminated by Network". Where with other makes of vehicles they have their own different Bluetooth issues with the new operating system.

In any case, I am very frustrated that the latest operating system update didn't handle this problem.

This is a serious problem, which essentially makes the phone unusable while driving if you have any concern for safety. In States like mine which have laws against using the cell phone while driving, this issue simply makes the phone unusable while driving. Considering the dangerous safety issue created and the non-usability issue....it would seem that we purchased this phone and it's operating system under the false pretense that it allowed for hands free phone use while driving (through the Siri system). That false pretense/false advertising was put out there to the public by Apple. It seems like they would be subject to a class action lawsuit by all who are suffering from this problem...unless...Apple was willing either 1) To fix the problem or 2) Allow full refunds for not producing on what was advertised.

I love Apple products, for the most part, but this issue is unacceptable due to the safety/usability issues involved. Apple really need to either fix this or offer full refunds to it's customers so that we can go about the business of getting a phone that functions hands free in the vehicle. Or, and I hope it doesn't get to this, Apple should be forced to answer to a lawsuit that forces their hand in this matter. We should not be subject to the cost of this iPhone in addition to having to buy another phone for hands free operation.

Come on Apple...don't disappoint what has otherwise been loyal customers and cause us to turn on you. Write a fix for this problem and get it out to us quickly...before we turn on you.

This happens on my 2007 Prius too. Bluetooth calls will go through if you dial them from the iPhone's screen, but not if you use Siri -- you get the "call terminated by network" message.

This worked fine before I updated to iOS 8. Since then I have hoped that every single iOS 8 update would fix it, but we are now at 8.1.1 and I still can't use Siri over bluetooth to place calls. Can't believe that so many people from this thread have talked to Apple Senior Advisors and that it is still yet to be patched... Using iPhone 5

I want my hands free back again!
