iPhone 6 Plus Volume

I recently purchased an iPhone 6 Plus and I noticed that the volume when on a call is very, very low. I turned the volume all the way up and there is still no improvement. When I had my iPhone 5S, I was able to actually turn down the volume because it was loud. Is anyone else having this problem?

Device: iPhone 6 Plus

Capacity: 128GB

Color: Black/Space Grey

*Phone volume is normal when on a call through Speakerphone or BT connection. Volume level problem is only experienced when using the ear piece.

I had this issue when I purchased my iphone 6+ silver 128GB. The speaker was not usable in any type of environment other than a room with a closed door it was so quiet. It was extremely frustrating- so I made an appointment at the Apple Store. They tested it and gladly replaced my phone with a new one.... I should have tested it before I left. Come to discover the new device had the exact same issue. I went back to the apple store and the following day and they were nice enough to see me right away without making an appointment. They tried reinstalling software- tested calling via facetime on their wifi network to see if it was an AT&T network issue... still the same problem.

They then took the phone for an hour and replaced the internal ear piece speaker and now the phone is working great.

So, in your case, quite obviously it was a hardware problem and I'm pleased that you have got it sorted but, other buyers have found that simply removing the back and front plastic protectors has work for them. In my case, I had already removed those covers and I then entered settings/sound and disabled the 'change with buttons' slider so that the internal slider works independently of the external button. I then set the external volume to half way (which it always was on my 5S, 5, 4 and 3GS) and the internal slider to two thirds and then found that I could hear incoming callers with a good level of volume in the ear speaker. Again, that did not work for other iPhone 6 owners.

I did this and it now works just like it should...Maybe this will help you 🙂 Regards!

I recently purchased an iPhone 6 and immediately noticed that the phone call volume through the earpiece was much lower than my iPhone 5. Speaker volume was more than loud enough but the low earpiece volume (even though it was at max volume during the phone call) was making it difficult to understand anything.

A quick Google search for iphone 6 earpiece low volume brings up similar questions.

As mentioned by Ledsteplin on the iMore forums, a possible fix is to go to Settings > General > Accessibilty > Hearing Aids and toggle Hearing Aid Mode to On. When I did this and proceeded to make a phone call the volume was only at half even though I remember setting the volume to max during the previous call. I increased the volume to max and noticed a significant difference.

I noticed that when you toggle Hearing Aid Mode to On you can no longer toggle Phone Noise Cancellation to On (which is set toOn by default in iOS 8). I have a feeling the Phone Noise Cancellation setting is the actual culprit and the real fix is to simply toggle itOff, make a phone call, and set your phone call volume to max.

I've had my Iphone 6 128gb for two days now. People are having problems hearing me on voice calls. The only way I've found to solve this is to change the phone position so that the microphone is much closer to my mouth. It means the phone sits a little lower on my face under my cheek bone. I've no problem with adjusting, but can foresee problems when in a loud environment as the ear speaker inevitably is further from the ear.
