iPhone 6 Plus Volume

I recently purchased an iPhone 6 Plus and I noticed that the volume when on a call is very, very low. I turned the volume all the way up and there is still no improvement. When I had my iPhone 5S, I was able to actually turn down the volume because it was loud. Is anyone else having this problem?

Device: iPhone 6 Plus

Capacity: 128GB

Color: Black/Space Grey

*Phone volume is normal when on a call through Speakerphone or BT connection. Volume level problem is only experienced when using the ear piece.

Hello!

I got an iPhone 6 Plus and my boss got the iPhone 6 and both were having the same problem with the call volume so I looked here and the Hearing Aid Mode ON tip solved my problem. We were calling to each other to check if it had worked and I could hear him loud and clear but he said he heard me very low. Until I remembered the posts about the plastic film... and it turned out he hadn't removed the plastic protector 😁 When he did it (with the Hearing Aid Mode ON) he could hear me perfectly. So thanks to everybody for mentioning both solutions.🙂

Hello,

I got my iPhone 6 today (iOS 8.1.1) and I have also this stupid problem! Using the same Sennheiser headphones which works well with my iPhone 4S, I have a really low volume when playing music. I cannot tell for call, I didn't receive yet... Reboot, no plastic cover, hearing aid mode on/off, I have tested all the workarounds given in that post, nothing works. It's really annoying.

I hope we will get an official answer from Apple soon.

Regards.

OK, person at "Wunderbar" seemed to agree that the volume was low and replaced the phone. 2nd iPhone 6 Plus has better volume but no where near the "ear" speaker volume as my old 4S. Tested side by side. The speaker at bottom of phone is as before, could be loader but acceptable.

I really believe there is a design/software problem with this "ear" speaker volume.

Another interesting thing from the BAR visit is that while waiting (1hour) for my appointment I listened to the various conversations between the techs and customers with IPhone 6 issues. Almost every conversation started off with a diagnostic test and then telling the customer that several apps were crashing (sometimes over 20!) and that is causing the issue.

When my turn came the same thing, I had 13 apps crashing and that most likely was causing the audio issues. I did not buy it as I had this issue with a factory restart with no restore. I was also told not to restore from iTunes. Start over with the apps and all my contacts. Right! That would be easy... What is iTunes backup and restore for anyway.

Really not impressed with this 1st level "Wunderbar" support.

Oh yea, of course they had never heard any complaints of low volume with the IPhone 6 at all.....

i'm having the same low volume issue also.. which is why i ended up here.. just got the 6 plus.. tried changing all the settings suggested by others.. nothing worked.. plastic oem screen protector already removed.. unless there is another small piece of plastic that i'm not seeing.. i really want to like this phone, but this problem is really annoying.. now my volume control buttons on the side aren't even working.. they were working an hr ago..

I have the same problem with my new iPhone 6 Plus, 64 GB, iOS 8.1.1. After one week of frustration due to the low volume only on calls and the muffled sound of voices, I went to the Apple Store. The genius confirmed the problem. The first step was to replace the display and the receiver, which they did in one hour. The problem still existed. They gave me a replacement phone. While in the store we updated everything and I made numerous calls, handing the phone to the genius to hear the voice on the other end. He and I confirmed that there was no difference: both phones had unacceptably low volume. However, he did not have a solution, except to exchange it for an iPhone 6, which I did not want to do.

I had an iPhone 3GS and an iPhone 4 and never had a problem with volume or voice quality.

Today I called AppleCare and the support person said she had never heard of this problem. I told her to go online to the support communities, which she did while I was on the phone, and she had me try the Hearing Aid Mode ON setting. It increased the volume slightly, not enough to make a difference and certainly not enough to make me happy that I bought an iPhone 6 Plus. I'm extremely disappointed. Except for the volume problem, I love the iPhone 6 Plus, so I hope I don't have to return it again or buy a different phone.

well the first thing that i found out that worked for me was putting my ear closer to the top of the phone.. it's so big, if i held it where i would normally hold my old 4s, then my ear is more on the screen then over the speaker at the top.. that helped.. but the biggest change was after my volume buttons on the side stopped working then started working again.. have no idea why that happened.. my current settings are: sounds/ringers and alerts/change with buttons OFF; general/accessibility/hearing aids OFF; general/accessibility/phone noise cancellation OFF; these are the settings that i was messing around with when the volume buttons stopped then started..

another weird thing that happened was when i first started listening to my music, the earphones that came with my 6 plus weren't working properly either.. it sounded like karaoke.. i could hear the background music, but the voices were really low.. so i switched to my old earphones and they worked fine.. then about an hr later i switched back to the new earphones and they worked properly (although the sound is more "tinny" out of the new earphones, but at least i can hear the singer's voices now).. something definitely is wrong with these phones.. but mine is working properly now (3rd day with the new phone).. i'll post back if my volume goes low again..
