iCloud uninstall/upgrade error 2343

I have iCloud 3.1 running on Windows 8.1 x64 without problem. I'm trying to upgrade to 4.0 through Apple Software Update and I was getting an error. I have also tried to uninstall iCloud entirely or do a repair and I get the same error each time:

The installer has encountered an unexpected error installing this package. This may indicate a problem with this package. The error code is 2343.

On the main uninstall window the step it is on says: Status: Removing INI files entries

I've tried uninstalling with RevoUninstall Free, but iCloud isn't listed in its view. I ran the Microsoft FixIt and it ran for more than 2 hours and never finished. After that, iCloud was missing from the Programs and Features window but I still couldn't install 4.0

I did a System Restore to last week and the same error.

How can I get it fully uninstalled or find out what INI file it is trying to look at?

The only thing I can think of is that I used to have Office 2013 installed which I have since uninstalled and maybe iCloud was still trying to point to that, although I was only using iCloud for Photostream and nothing with syncing contacts or e-mail.

I tried running ProcessMonitor while unininstalling to see if I could see what it was attempting, but didn't find it.

From what I've read in previous posts/replies there appears to be a round-about-solution to the issue. As far as I'm concerned, I shall not go about uninstalling, installing, removing, adding, replacing, or anything else, until Apple or MS (or both) gets their IT geniuses to release a fix. Done. And what's comical is that I get alerts to upgrade...—HA!

I have Windows 10 and have that error 2343 when trying to first update my icloud for windows to the 5.0-so I figured to take it all out clean the system and reboot-did that and icloud itself remains and will not come out so that I can reinstall it. I cannot even open it (which is why I first opted to redo it).

Cannot use that Microsoft fix as I tried and they say it is not for windows 10.

I would appreciate any help-as I have an ipad that I like to synch up to my computer-cannot do now with all these problems-first time I have encountered any of these problems with the icloud.

Alas ... that is NOT the question! The question IS why can't Apple release an updated version of their iCloud for Windows software that will install smoothly without the errors that we have seen and persistently reported since release of version 4?

We don't want to be forced to uninstall critical software to do this .. and we (at least I) do not think I should have to be a programmer to follow this person's or that person's (albeit well meaning) multi-step white hat work-arounds.

Apple ... please just focus on the issue and program a solution.

I am having the same problem with the update to iCloud 5.0. I have Outlook 2016 64bit installed through Office 365 Business. This is definitely something I think Apple needs to fix. I shouldn't have to revert to a lesser version of Outlook to make iCloud work.

Estou tendo o mesmo problema com o update para o iCloud 5.0, outlook 2016. Erro 2343. A Apple tem que resolver isso urgente

I found a solution that worked: I used a third party uninstaller, in this case IObit, which is free.(http://www.iobit.com/en/advanceduninstaller.php, but there are also other unistallers) I used that to uninstall iCloud. The 'Powerful Scan' option, which starts automatically if a normal uninstall does not work, was able to uninstall it. I could then install the new version of iCloud. I hope this works for you, too.
