My daughter ordered a 64Gb iphone 6 soon after release from Apple online. Finally arrived the other night, updated to 8.0.2, all fine then after a couple of hours use the screen turns red and goes back to the apple logo then the screen corrupts with horizontal lines.

I have re-downloaded firmware, restored in DFU mode same problem after a couple of hours use.
So we went through apple's online trouble shooting and made an appointment with genius bar for the next day only to have my daughter bullied out of the store by some blue haired cow telling her that the genius bar cannot help her because the phone was ordered online from apple it must be returned to the online store.

Called the store yesterday to make a formal complaint about this cow of a woman, told a manager would call me back and that the issue with the phone would be resolved asap.....so far nothing, guess I shouldn't hold my breath.

Great support Apple Sydney George St Store, well played!!

Well, no return call from Apple so I just made another genius appointment.

The experience this morning was like chalk and cheese, the guy we dealt with today couldn't have been more helpful!! Basically we just showed him a video of the phone doing its party trick and it was replaced on the spot, no questions asked. In fact when he turned the phone on to wipe it the screen corrupted almost immediately so what ever the problem is, it is getting worse with use.

When it was all done I explained what had happened two days earlier with my daughter and asked to speak to a manager. The manager was also very helpful and he agreed with me when I suggested that this woman could do with some refresher training in customer service and Apple's policies. He gave an apology for what happened and my daughter now has a phone that works so this time my thanks for great support from Apple Sydney is sincere.

Kath,

I had a similar problem yesterday and I wanted to share with you my experience.

I have an AT&T 64 GB iPhone 6 which I purchased the day they came out from a local store. I've had no issues with it so far. Saturday night I went out, had it with me the whole night. I didn't plug it in on Saturday night, so Sunday morning when I woke up it was dead. I proceeded to plug it into my computer and it booted up. When the home screen came on, the entire screen was flickering, almost felt like I was tripping or something. The screen and buttons were working fine. When I tried to sync it with iTunes, it would not. Then I got the dreaded blue screen of death, followed by my phone rebooting.

Over the course of the afternoon I saw several things. Blue screen, red screen, red screen fading with blue stripes, blue screen with faded stripes. Each time it would reboot to the home screen, I was able to unlock the phone and use it, but moments later, the whole cycle would start again. I made several attempts to back it up because I was fearful it was on the brink. It wouldn't back up. The phone wouldn't stay on long enough to do that. Eventually, after hours of rebooting, it finally just died. Wouldn't turn on, wouldn't hard reset. Nothing.

I took it to my local AT&T store, as we don't have an Apple store in town. They said it was a hardware issue and that I had to call Apple. I spoke with a lady on the phone, explained to her what was going on and she put up the white flag and said I had a dead unit. All of the forums I've read of this happening with previous models, you could do a hard reset and it would fix it. Others said to just do a restore and again, fixed. Unfortunately, mine was unresponsive. We set up a way for me to send mine in and get a new one or for mine to be fixed.

Fast forward a few hours . . . I'm at work, and all the sudden I hear my texting noises going crazy. WHAT?!?! I looked, and sure enough, my phone had powered back on. Now my screen was still fuzzy/flickering/glowing strangely. Trippy. BUT, it stayed on, and I was able to use it, even upload all of my pics to Dropbox in the case of an emergency (I hadn't backed up my phone since I got the new one). As the night went on, the fuzzy/flickering went away, and today, it's fine. I went home last night and was able to plug it in, no problem, and did a full backup to my computer. I did have an issue with doing that but found some forums on here very helpful. It was saying my phone wasn't connecting, but, come to find out it was because I had a corrupted backup from earlier in the day when I was attempting to back it up. Once I deleted that backup it went through no problem.

I called Apple this morning to get their opinion. They said it was up to me. They still gave me the option of sending it in since it was well under warranty, but, they also said that the Apple Care with the phone lasts for the first year, so, if I'm comfortable, just continue to use it. They of course kept my case on file in case it happens again.

Everything I've read for people having this issue makes it sound like it's a software glitch. I haven't read too much on people having this happen with the 6 yet, even the two people I talked to at Apple said that I was their first caller with this problem with the 6. My recommendation would be to just call Apple. They're going to walk you through all the possible steps to see if your phone will recover. If not, they'll give you the option on how to get it fixed. You shouldn't have to have something brand new act like this. Best of luck!

I have an iPhone 6 64GB iOS 8.0.2, and when I first got it, it wouldn't download my old iPhone 5 backup, so I set it up as a new iphone, manually downloading just my most important apps... no more than 30. It would every once and then reboot out of nowhere, when using it or when not using it. It would continue to reboot and crashing with the red screen of death and blue screen of death.

Then last night it spent all night rebooting on its own and crashing, so this morning I put it in recovery mode and tried to restore it.

Now I just get the 4013 error which says the iPhone can not be restored. Now its stuck in recovery mode and have tried many times to restore it via iTunes, and still get the error and can not restore my iPhone.

What else can I do???

Ive had my 64GB iPhone 6+ for 4 days.

Just did the upgrade to iOS 8.1 and its bricked the phone. Its in a continuous reboot mode, with logo followed by a full red screen.

Hardware reset and trying to do a restore doesn't help as I get error messages or phone not found messages.

This is hugely frustrating as Im out the country on a business trip.

Talked to Apple support, and now have to visit a store when I get home.

Lucky I have my Samsung Galaxy Note 3 with me. Think Im going to go to the Note 4 instead.

Hugely disappointed.

I updated my iPhone 6 to ios 8.1 last night. At some point during or after the update my phone started cycling between the apple logo screen and the red screen of death! I am able to put it in recovery mode but am not able to get through the restore process. I went through troubleshooting with a Senior Apple care rep with no resolution. I also tried all the "fixes" online. Hardware issue?? This will be my 2nd "hardware issue" in 3 weeks....with my resolution being to go back to an Apple Store to go get my 3rd iPhone 6! Driving an hour each way to an Apple Store is a massive inconvenience....not to mention going without a phone for a couple days! Apple is quickly losing my confidence in them. My question is this....will Apple do anything to make up for these inconveniences and lost time? Do they care about losing my business and the bad PR that will spread because of it?

As indicated in September, I have, too, this problem on an iPhone 6 64 go.

Having tried everything : reset, restore as new iPhone, etc.

After it worked 10 days...

The problems then started again: after contact with Apple, this one proceeded to an exchange.

I specify that the problems occurred with only 112 applications.

Since no problem: installation from a backup, same number of applications.

First installation was from a iPhone 5S backup, second from an iPhone 6 backup.

Hey Kath1223 I know you probably have already gathered this but I had the same issue with the Iphone 6 128GB. My phone would flash black apple screen/ red back and forth, nothing would fix it, and it actually stopped responding I had only had the phone for 3 weeks and it hadn't been dropped, or had water on it at all, and I had to take it into the store they replaced it no questions asked.
