Remove device from "My Devices" list in iCloud.com "Settings"

Hi,

I have upgraded my iphone and followed everything to disassociate from my account.

I have turned off find my iphone, then erased the phone.

As a result, I can't see the old phone on find my iphone. Great.

BUT... if I go to iCloud.com, in "Settings", I can still see the old phone listed here, and can't do anything to remove it.

Any ideas?

Many thanks!

This worked for me...granted I still had the old device as I was gifting down to my daughter, I had to erase the iPad mini that I just got done setting up for her with apps, etc. I first turned off find my iPad, then I signed out of iCloud, then erased all content and settings. I set up the iPad as the user that had it before, but set it up as a new device, to save time. Once all set up and signed into the old icloud account, I turned off find my iPad and signed out of iCloud, then reset and erased all content again. Then set up the iPad back to my daughter with the last back up under her ID, signed back into iCloud.

Involved work around, but worked in the end...again, this would only work if you still had the device. Best to turn of find my iPhone/iPad and then sign out of iCloud, before erasing and selling/giving a device. I will always remember to do this going forward after this issue!

Good luck!

SAME ISSUE HERE!

My old iPad can not be booted successfully, so I got an replacement in Apple Store. And I did not have a chance to log out my iCloud account and turn off "Find my iPhone" because that iPad can not be booted at that time. I asked Genius when I got the new one, he told me it doesn't matter. I logged in iCloud.com found that the old one is off-line. I deleted it from "Find my iPhone". Now, I can't see it under "Find my iPhone", but it appears in Settings-My Devices. It's so annoying that I have no idea whether this issue will show my contacts, notes etc. to the next user.

I also check the activation lock on that web page. It says "off". Does that mean I have deleted it from my Apple ID successfully?

Any help will be appreciated! THX!

I have the exact same problem. I no longer have the two "phantom" devices showing up in "My Devices" therefore can't follow the steps discussed here. Can't believe Apple did not think of this Use Case and hasn't even came up with a solution yet. Oh well, they just released a "de-register" solution for iMessage and that issue has been going for quite a while now. Ugh!😠

Been having the same issue and it's driving me nuts, both an iPhone 5 and iPad Air in 'My Devices' tab on iCloud.com. Seems like the only option is to turn off iCloud if you have the device, if not you have to wait for Apple to either allow you to remove it remotely through iCloud or if the above posts are true wait 90 days for inactive devices to automatically disappear.

You can currently remove them from Find My iPhone but that doesn't solve it, also removing them as trusted devices is also irrelevant. BTW anybody not seeing that 'manage trusted devices' tab that probably means you haven't enabled 2-factor authentication for your Apple ID.

It's not a major problem, just an annoying one.

hi, I apologize for my English ... I too have this problem I replaced my 6 plus with a new one and now under my devices I have both the new and the old 6 plus !!! I called apple support and they can not help it, have submitted the problem to the engineers ...

Expect an answer because I still practice open.

You're forced to wait 90 days? you can not eliminate them before?

thanks

^ If you still have the old phone, try singing out of iCloud on it (delete the account if it's running iOS 7 or earlier). The list shows devices signed into your account.

BEFORE you make a switch from Old Iphone to a new one:

Make sure Itunes version is current

Old phone:

Perform Itunes backup with apps

Perform Icloud backup ( just in case )

New Phone

Setup as new device and update OS to the latest version. Use your Icloud id as usual.

Go in Itunes and restore from backup ( old phone backup)

OLD Phone:

Turn off find my Iphone

Sign out of iCloud on it (delete the account if it's running iOS 7 or earlier) - this is important

This should remove device from I cloud.

Then you can erase data from old device ( reset all) and sell it or trade it in
