iPad Air since iOS 8: Apps not updating and downloading no longer possible. Fix?

This problem only really started in the past couple days. I can no longer update apps, cannot download books from the store in the books app and cannot download newspapers in my newsstand. Also, my Adobe reader for iPad open but shows a blank page for 15 seconds before closing and returning to my iPad home screen.

Previous to this, the first few days of iOS 8 did not give me problems, though I had not yet tested all of the above items but apps updated easily for first few days (until 22 sept). Is there a fix?

(A) Try reset iPad

Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears

Note: Data will not be affected.

(B) Try reset all settings

Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings

Note: Data will not be affected but settings for Wi-Fi, FaceTime, Message, Home Sharing will be reset

.Same problem all discuss....can not update apps, and Zinio crashes, and Evernote crashes

I think this is the answer ...

1. I deleted the WSJ app

2. Rebooted the ipad Air

And all works....apps update/download, zinio works, evernote works....time will tell

But it appears that either the WSJ app is gumming it up for bad coding or Apple is hanging because of a bug/code changes (ultimately Apple's responsibility). And as I read above other deleted magazine apps....so maybe its tied to the Newstand feature of iOS

Those that try this should report back for all to read (on whether it works or not)......

Awesome - After days of trying lots of suggestions, this worked !!!

Also, my other iPad which never had the problem, never had the WSJ app. An added bonus, my Directv app which hung on startup at the same time the download problem started is working once again.

i have previously said that I downgraded my iPad Air to 7.1.2 and yes everything had been back to working perfectly.......until last night. In preparing for a trip, I downloaded a couple movies and they reached the end of the download and reached the final stage of installation (I forget what it is called) then I got a "download error" message and now my videos app does not even open so not only can I not view the movies I just bought but I cannot even open the app to see my existing movies. However, everything else seems to be working under 7.1.2 so far. That said, those movies were the first things I tried to download since a reinstalled the old iOS and downloaded my apps at that time. Maybe I should try downloading another app just to see. I will update again if I have an issue with that.

repeat.....the videos app does not even open anymore!!

hello Apple? Are you listening? Hello customer service? Are you working on a fix or just reading and enjoying these posts?

Ok, I downloaded a new app without issue but it still seems that the switch back from iOS 8.0 to 7.1.2 still had a lingering impact on the videos app so hopping there will be a fix for this Very very soon.

hard to believe that nobody in media is talking about the issues with iPads on the new OS. There are many iPads out there. A we the only ones who tried to do the update and hence such a small number of people that Apple does not care?

I have a feeling this will solve the issue for a lot of people.

I am on an iPad mini and it is working for me. However, what also has worked for me is to entirely sign out of iCloud and then turn the iPad off at least once (possibly twice). I had noticed some funny stuff happening with the WSJ app shortly before these issues started happening for me (about a week ago now), but I never connected them. I would definitely delete the app, and if you really need to read WSJ on your iPad just log in through Safari.

I See there is an update to the WSJ app dated yesterday and it says it fixes the fact that new content was not downloading. I have not yet updated that app and am holding off doing so. Given I am back on iOS 7.1.2 for now, I am not having problems with that app anyway. For me, it is just the videos that are not working at all anymore and the app does not even open ever since I tried downloading a couple movies last night.

i Really want to upgrade to the new iOS so I hope Apple fixes these problems in very short order. Now that they got the iPhone issue sorted out, time to tackle the iPad issues.
