iPad Air since iOS 8: Apps not updating and downloading no longer possible. Fix?

This problem only really started in the past couple days. I can no longer update apps, cannot download books from the store in the books app and cannot download newspapers in my newsstand. Also, my Adobe reader for iPad open but shows a blank page for 15 seconds before closing and returning to my iPad home screen.

Previous to this, the first few days of iOS 8 did not give me problems, though I had not yet tested all of the above items but apps updated easily for first few days (until 22 sept). Is there a fix?

(A) Try reset iPad

Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears

Note: Data will not be affected.

(B) Try reset all settings

Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings

Note: Data will not be affected but settings for Wi-Fi, FaceTime, Message, Home Sharing will be reset

I'm extremely upset myself going through the same ordeal as many users. however I tend to believe that the clogging of the site is due to myriads of new iPhone 6 late buyers scrambling to fix the jewel. there should be a larger share of IOS 8 users then otherwise this time round trying to fix it. But I do agree that it'd be nice - the say the least - for Apple to send out some reassuring words that they are aware of that that they're doing all thay can to ease the download, that they expect downloading getting better by at latest ....., and so on and so forth. for now I'd better stay put but Apple should really be more caing of their customers. Expect a word or 2 ...

I'm having the same issue with my iPad Air. I went to update to 8.0.2, but I couldn't do that either.

So, plugged it into iTunes and that let me download the new patch.

But no joy. Still cannot update any apps.

Plus, both iCabMobile and Safari browsers are not working properly and crash often. I can no longer scroll through tabs at the top in iCabMobile, although it works great on my iPhone 5s which is running iOS 8.0.0 and is working just fine.

As I mentioned earlier, I did the downgrade as per the instruction found on the web (referenced the site earlier, I think it was MacOSX or something like that). Now, aside from losing some files as described in my earlier post, everything works perfectly as I am iOS 7 again. Downloads work, all apps work, everything is just wonderful. I will not download whatever patch or fix they claim to have until at least a week after they issue one (hmmmm....IF they issue one - as other said, I hope they are monitoring this message centre). I do not want another fix that will be great for a few days then crash like iOS 8 did.

try the downgrade if it is still available. It was easier than I expected. Life is good again!

I Am not sure how you even found 8.02 for iPad. When I go into my software update section of settings, it only says 8.0

anyways, I do not trust an update until I hear it works for at least a week after release. All the details of what is contained in 8.02 speaks only to iphone and not to iPad so I doubt they addressed any of the issues discussed here.

8.02 has not fixed anything for me. On a complete wipe and restore to 8.00, everything worked for a while, then it just went back to being broken. I am skeptical about any claims of success until a bit of time has gone by. Once you get in the failed state, there appears to be no way out other than a restore (which leads you back there eventually). Just the fact that all Apple downloads are effected should help point them to fix. Given this has gone on for a few days now, it appears that the only way to get this fix prioritized will be to keep flooding this thread until the problem appears in the popular press.

Again, 8.0.2 (to get the dots right) does nothing for me. As far as I can see, it is just downloads from whatever download manager Apple provides that are broken. For instance, if you have iTunes match and you have music in the cloud, you can tap play and the music will download and play (and be on your iPad when you go into airplane mode). It will still have a download cloud though. It you try to download it, no joy. If you just try to download it (not play), no joy. This sounds like a single screwed up piece of software to me.
