iPad Air since iOS 8: Apps not updating and downloading no longer possible. Fix?

After a complete factory reset, and set up as a new iPad, I'm on iOS 8.0.2 for an hour or two it was working. and then it went back to No updates or new app downloads. next step is to revert to to iOS 7. Then maybe Genius Bar. Or maybe just use my work Galaxy tab. Don't have time for this.

Here is the latest. Apple hey know about issue but not saying anything. I was on with support tonight for an hour. No fix the only way to fix it to link your phone to your computer and download 8.02. No other way. I ripped into the guy Unacceptable For Apple. Total fisaco they should be ashamed at pushing 8.0. Was not ready for prime time.

My friend, your post is extremely telling. Apple call centre appearIng out of the blue leads me to believe that this issue is affecting only a small chunk of users. even by casual queries, one should perhaps try gathering what kind of devices are actually hit by this download stall. My iPad is an Air (make md796ty/a) with cell port. I suspect there may also be an issue of from where one is accessing the Store ie through what server ie through what country (I live in Italy for that matter). Is anyone aware of any friends with same device at the same place NOT being affected ?

just upgraded to 8.0.2 and no fix. Apps still will not update. Can't download magazines..

Very upsetting. Hope a real fix comes soon.

There are now more than a few threads in the forum relates to Apple downloading problems. Some notice it first with apps, others magazines and so on. It is all the same problem. When one is hung, all get hung. There appears to be no permanent fix. Full backup and restore will get things working for a while, but it will fail again.

I have this same problem on my iPad mini. No updates and no downloading new apps. The problem persists even though I am running iOS 8.0.2. It's been doing this for at least 2 days now.

Ipad Air, same problems. Incredibly frustrating, none of the workarounds seem to make a difference. Please for the love of Pete do something Apple!

Agreed. I'm having the same problem with my Ipad Air. I was able to install 8.02 via iTunes download, but apps are not updating.

Contrary to your experience and to my surprise, this morning (Central European time) I managed to download and install via iTunes patch 8.0.2. It turned out to be pretty slow - actually much slower than usual -but it worked fine ith some odd mishaps ( too long to tell with my Eglish but things such as signalling mismatch between Apple Store with icons still spinning even though update was already effective, crazy badging and the likes ...)! ! Apps then updated over WiFi, could downl a couple of new Apps and Acrobat Reader magically got back to business a usual. However, still I have to check how long it'll last ... Keep my fingers crossed

I am very disappointed in this 8.0.2 release. I cannot download apps and have tried almost everything. I have not and will not factory re-install as if that is needed, Apple should give me a new iPad for the trouble.

Apple, get your **** together and fix this issue.

If you are not willing to do a factory reset you will have to put up with your problem I did a reset not the factory one and my iPad mini iPad Air & IPhone are all working ok. Bsydd uk

Same problem with App updates. Tried a reset, which did not correct the problem. Was unable to update to iOS 8.02; received an error message that could not download. Network works perfectly.

I was able to update to 8.0.2 via a wired connection with iTunes. However, the update did not fix the problem. I have 8 apps pending updates and no new apps can be downloaded.

Factory reset worked for a short time then back to the same proplems. Apps not updating. Can't get to subscribed magazines. Serious problem that seems to be on,y with iPad Air?

I had this same problem and did all of the things that are listed here (including updating to 8.0.2) to no avail (nothing worked).

I then remembered that I had started some downloads in Amazon Music several days before and checked (they had not finished downloading before ipad went to sleep). After I finished the downloads in Amazon Music, everything started working again. I suppose app store was behind the AM downloads and could not proceed until these were completed...
