iPad Air since iOS 8: Apps not updating and downloading no longer possible. Fix?

This problem only really started in the past couple days. I can no longer update apps, cannot download books from the store in the books app and cannot download newspapers in my newsstand. Also, my Adobe reader for iPad open but shows a blank page for 15 seconds before closing and returning to my iPad home screen.


Previous to this, the first few days of iOS 8 did not give me problems, though I had not yet tested all of the above items but apps updated easily for first few days (until 22 sept). Is there a fix?

My friend, your post is extremely telling. Apple call centre appearIng out of the blue leads me to believe that this issue is affecting only a small chunk of users. even by casual queries, one should perhaps try gathering what kind of devices are actually hit by this download stall. My iPad is an Air (make md796ty/a) with cell port. I suspect there may also be an issue of from where one is accessing the Store ie through what server ie through what country (I live in Italy for that matter). Is anyone aware of any friends with same device at the same place NOT being affected ?

Contrary to your experience and to my surprise, this morning (Central European time) I managed to download and install via iTunes patch 8.0.2. It turned out to be pretty slow - actually much slower than usual -but it worked fine ith some odd mishaps ( too long to tell with my Eglish but things such as signalling mismatch between Apple Store with icons still spinning even though update was already effective, crazy badging and the likes ...)! ! Apps then updated over WiFi, could downl a couple of new Apps and Acrobat Reader magically got back to business a usual. However, still I have to check how long it'll last ... Keep my fingers crossed

I had this same problem and did all of the things that are listed here (including updating to 8.0.2) to no avail (nothing worked).


I then remembered that I had started some downloads in Amazon Music several days before and checked (they had not finished downloading before ipad went to sleep). After I finished the downloads in Amazon Music, everything started working again. I suppose app store was behind the AM downloads and could not proceed until these were completed...
