iPad Air since iOS 8: Apps not updating and downloading no longer possible. Fix?

I have two iPad air's and neither one will update apps via wifi or LTE.

I have a 4s, 5c, 5s and a 6 Plus in the family and no problems with those.

I would hope Apple is aware of this issue

I have 3 IOS devices:

iPad 4 on IOS 8 - no problem upgrading or downloading.

iPad mini Retina on IOS 8.0.2 - has the problem.

iPhone 5S on 8.0.2 - no problem.

MAybe a coincidence, but the Directv app on the mini won't start, works fine on the iPad 4.

Having exactly the same problem. Total disaster...just posting to add to the list In hopes of eliciting a response from Apple!!!!

Same issue on my iPhone 5. This is very frustrating. I have tried most of the fixes suggested here except downgrading and syncing with iTunes. I'll try that tomorrow.

Five hours ago, I deleted all the apps that were stalled out in the update list, then downloaded them again via the App Store. Since then, I've received additional updates to other apps, and they've all installed fine.

The above is true with respect to both my iPhone 6 and my iPad mini Retina, both of which are running 8.0.2. I had about 14 apps on the iPad in this state, and only 3 on the iPhone (due to the problem commencing earlier on the iPad). It's annoying to say the least, but in my case, it worked, for now anyway. Give it a shot.

I'll post back if things in the update queue stall out again.

Restored iPad Air With backup from 2013 using hardware to iTunes on PC. Seems to be working now, but missing a bunch of apps and music. Makes sense since backup was from 2013. iOS still sats 8.0.2. Able to pull down Zinio mags. Apple needs to fix this.

I experienced these same issues with the initial release of IOS 8. Since upgrading to 8.0.2, they went away - for the most part. If it is of any help in tracking down the issue, my iPad2 is WiFi only 32GB with over 10GB free. I have disabled virtually every feature that was designed for the newest, speedier iPads. I feel everyone's frustration. My iPad was a rocket on IOS 6, noticeably slowed down on IOS 7, and is as slow or possibly a tad slower on IOS 8. I do sometimes experience the laggy keyboard issue completing forms within Safari - both with the stock keyboard and SwiftKey. One thing is for sure, when 8.1 is released I'm waiting a week or so. Now, if Apple could give me what I really need in a keyboard, I might even consider upgrading when the iPad Air2 comes out - (1) a forward delete key as well as the backspace - (2) arrow movement keys. Those two changes would be enormously helpful.

Same mofo problem here. Using an iPad Air, 64GB, WiFI + LTE (AT&T). Running 8.0.2 cannot download updates or install new apps. Unreal.

This really is a rot in heelllll kind of thing. WTFFFFF is going on?

Nothing new to report. I've tried several workarounds as suggested in various posts, but they simply do not fix this major bug. Jeeezuz how the heck did this get past basic bug-testing in Cupertino?!

I think someone at APPL HQ is going to get their butt chewed a new hole... 😮

JJust want to report that im having the same problems with downloading and upgrading apps. I'm using ipad 4th gen with latest version of iOS 8. I have tried everything discussed here to no avail. My iPhone 5c is working perfectly fine though.

I just rang Apple and they helped me with this issue. 🙂

Make sure you know your wifi password. The following fix didn't require a restore or for me to lose any other data.

Go to Settings, General, Reset, Reset all settings. Reset, Reset, (It might ask for the devices password).

Once the reset is done, open the apple store and search for the apps that aren't working and download them directly from the app store.

I really hope that it helps everyone. I'd be keen to know if it helps.

tried it. It does not work for me. Still can't updat apps. Also, can't download printer pro I paid for yesterday.

I was experiencing this problem on my iPad 3.

I tried many of the suggestions here but to no avail.

Overnight the issue seems to have resolved itself. All my updates installed and I can now download new content again. My Newsstand content is also coming in just fine.
