iPhone 6 WiFi Issue

I currently own an iPhone 6 Verizon and I get WiFi speed around 1 Mbps. I know it's not my router because the WiFi works perfectly fine on my laptop and my Dad's Galaxy Note 3. I have reset the network settings couple of times, and even though it would get my regular speed back for half an hour or so, it would decline to around 1 Mbps. I have also tried forgetting the network and reconnecting, but the same thing with the previous problem happens. The WiFi networking is off, and my phone is running iOS 8.0.2.

I have the same issue that Richardfromlas vegas has outlined on my iPhone 6. First I tried toggling the location settings. Nothing. Then I reset all my network settings and the speeds were normal for a brief period before dropping down to ~.5mbps. I contacted Apple Support multiple times and my issue has been escalated multiple times. I've reset the router, changed the security settings, and done a couple other trouble shooting ideas that did nothing.

Finally I was told to reset the iPhone as new from iTunes. Alas, I had normal speeds.... for about 10 minutes. Now I'm back to .5mbps on every wifi network I join. Everyone seems to think it is a problem with my network at home, it is not. I hook up to my friend's networks and get the same slow speeds. My husbands 5 in 8.0.2 works just fine. After today's call they have escalated my issue to "engineering". Great. They can escalate it to Tim Cook but if my phone can't use wifi then I can't use my phone.

May it be under any NDA or whatever (I am not a dev, so I'm not bound to any non disclosure agreement), iOS 8.1 does currently not fix these issues either.

I called the Apple care yesterday, they claimed to never had heard of this issue before and they, too, escalated it to engineering. Honestly, I am losing hope. Based on "you're holding it wrong".

Hello everyone,ok so i have the iphone 6 and the wifi speeds were terrible according to speedtest.net. so i called apple care and they asked me to install a program that monitors wifi communication for 24 hours and then i uploaded data to apple enigineering. horrible download and upload speed since i boughtthe phone.ok so last night i went into my router setting and changed the security key from wep to wpa2 and the phone flies now!!!! im telling everyone to try that now!! i went from not even 1 meg down to 30 megs down and 30megs up. I sent an email to apple and i think its a security bug with the new iphone. again just go into your routers setting and change it to wpa2 and its fixed! apple needs to issue a software update!!

The Wi-Fi drop outs continue! Spoke to an AppleCare UK representative yesterday and advised that I had tried all the possible steps to resolve. He agreed and said it could only be down to hardware so best to get a replacement.

I honestly don't think it will resolve the issue but the problem is the advisor said I was the first one to report wifi issues so I don't think they are going to acknowledge any time soon!

What to do as my return date is Monday 6th and I'm on my third iPhone 6 Plus 64GB -

1. Had yellow screen in bottom left hand corner and also dropped connection once ( 8.0)

2. Had a yellow screen and decolouring across the whole screen (8.0)

3. My current one - great screen but continuous Wi-Fi drop out issues (8.0.2)!!

Do you think its worth risking it for another replacement?!

Thanks for your reply. I'm already using WPA2 security and speed has luckily never been an issue for me.

Its the dropouts especially if I leave the phone idle for a few hours. It cant find any networks and reboot is required.

Sometimes the network is still there but I have to toggle the wifi switch on/off to get some activity.

That's the main issues I've been having.

Ouch. Lots of people having speed and cutout problems with that router. See this example from the reviews on Amazon:

I purchased this router a little over a week ago and hooking it up was a breeze. However, I went to speedtest.net and checked my download speed...and I was supposed to be getting up to 20mbps download speed...but I was only getting around .80 mbps. Not good. I hooked my computer up directly to the cable to test and make sure it wasn't my internet provider. I got around 24mbps. So, it was the router. After troubleshooting it for a while over the phone with my brother (who is very good with computers and this kind of stuff...I'm terrible) we were about to call it quits and accept that I received a faulty router. But, we tried one last thing and now I really like this router!

If you are having a similar problem as I described above...try this.

Open up the Cisco Connect program that came with the router. Click on Router Settings. Then, under Other Options click Advanced Settings. This will open a new page. On the menu bar at the top click on Applications and Gaming. Then, in that sub-menu click on the QoS link. The very first setting should be called WMM support. If this is enabled...disable it. Save your settings. And then go test your internet speed. Speedtest.net is a good site if you don't already know another one.

I guess that the WMM setting is there to help enhance games/applications (?), but lots of people have problems with it interfering with the internet speed/causing problems. So, it totally fixed my problem...I hope that this feedback can fix others problems as well!

It's likely that you either:

Have a problem with your router, network or Internet service. If this was a problem with the iPhone 6 there would be double-digit thousands of people reporting this, not just a handful on the Apple Community forum, since Apple has sold at least 10 million iPhone 6 units and they've been out in the wild for over a week now, along with iOS 8.

or:

Another possibility is that the issue you're reporting is not real. Samsung benefits from any lack of confidence in Apple, and is well known for astroturfing comment boards on the Web.

I'm quite shocked that your questioning how "real" my issue is. I'm a concerned user trying to find solution to a very expensive phone as I have owned every iPhone to date.

1. The issue is not my router - As I said all my other apple and non apple devices worked perfect on the network.

2. The issue is real and has been documented well on the following threads :

As I said I just want to resolve this as my iPhone 6 Plus is the only device on my network that continually disconnects and needs a reboot to work again.
