Can't play music in car via usb after iOS 8 update

Hi, After the IOS8 Update and (now the 8.0.2 update) I'm not longer able to play music via the usb lead (OK via BlueTooth still), I have a Mazda 6, I get 'iPod Error' on the screen after it tries to read the phones music. It's not the lead, I've tried several and its not the car head unit as it still works on a device using IOS7 (as my phone did).

The case is with Mac but interested if anyone has any ideas/suggestions.

I wondering if it's something to do with 'Air play'?. Was there anything done to Airplay on the IOS8 update?

Apple tell me there is no reason for it not to work, nothing on the IOS8 update should effect the music via usb but it doesn't work.

Cheers

iPhone 5c, iOS 8

100drh,

Have you reported this to Apple?

I got the impression when I did my report that Apple wanted to lay the blame with Mazda and even sent me a link to a support group who were moaning about the Mazda console.

Fortunately the guy I was talking to on the Apple support 'chat' was good enough to believe my answers to his questions and put a 'ticket in' for the issue.

Good to hear I'm not the only one with the problem but sad that we have it in the first place!

Cheers

Its also happening in my GMC Terrain. Took it in for service and GMC said the usb connection is working fine, to check the wire. I've tried several different wires that I own and still my phone does not work in my car via usb connection. It does work when I use auxiliar. Tried my nieces iPhone 5s with the latest iOS 8 update and it worked fine in my car via usb and auxiliary. So the issues has to be the phone and the iOS 8 update

Me again, I contacted Mazda regarding this issue here is their reply:

Thank you for your e-mail.

After checking on our Mazda Handsfree website I see that the device was not cleared to be able to connect via USB even with IOS7. The site can be accessed by going to this page www.mazda.co.uk/buying-owning/owning/bluetooth-compatibility/ and then clicking on the area that corresponds to the Mazda6. Once information is filled in about the vehicle and device it gives a list of functions that are expected to work with that combination. In this instance it doesn’t have that there will be able to be a USB connection between the device and vehicle.

Overall device compatibility as well as individual feature operation and functionality is contingent upon the device software version, device operating system, device settings, wireless service provider, and third party applications installed on the device. Because of this individual user results may vary. Also as new device software versions become available, test compatibility results may change so please check these results regularly.

All of this said, Mazda will always look into the compatibility of devices with our vehicles systems. With this in mind software updates are produced intermittently to change the vehicle’s system to be able to interact with software updates from device manufacturers. It is a good idea to check with your dealership every now and then to see if there are any updates and also keep an eye on the Mazda Handsfree website to see if there are any changes on there.

If you need any further assistance please feel free to call me on 08457 48 48 48. We are here between 9.00am to 6.00pm Monday to Friday.

Yours Sincerely.

Looks like change the car or change the phone!
