iMessage and FaceTime not working on iPhone 6 iOS 8.0.2

I got an iPhone 6 a couple of days ago and I haven't been able to use iMessage and FaceTime properly since I bought it. The iMessage and FaceTime toggle areas are usually saying "waiting for activation" and sometimes when they activate and everything looks fine, I can send iMessages but I do not receive them at all. Text messages however, are working perfectly but I obviously didn't buy an iPhone to send sms. I have tried reseting network setting and the hard reboot but hey didn't work. Went to the apple store in southampton and even they couldn't help me at all. Can anyone help me here? I'm starting to panic.

I Had same problems messages and FaceTime was not activating. I am in India so, why not try what I did. steps

  1. Switch off iPhone, I have iPhone 6 and IOS 10.2.1
  2. once completely switched off take out sim from tray and re entry sim tray and start iPhone.
  3. ofcourse it will show no services, that's what we want, connect to wifi and activate messages and FaceTime. Worked for me.
  4. once messages and FaceTime are activated, switch off the iPhone completely.
  5. re insert sim in sim tray and restart the iphone normally. Let it latch on to the network. Let it do its stuff. Wait for a few seconds.
  6. once its completely connected to your sim network you will see your messages and FaceTime are working . To test messages send a SMS to yourself, I mean the sim number, it should work fine after that.

Well that's what I did. Hope it helps.

Hi, I set up my new iphone 6 three days ago, and my friends started voice calling me after, complaining that they are receiving messages from an email, and that I am not receiving their messages.

Since I still have my iphone 5s, I tested between the two phones several times, and found out that...:

When you set up a new iphone 6, it automatically asks you to login to your apple ID. When you do so, the imessage sending would default to your apple ID email address. Maybe this is the secure part where the messages do not pass through your carrier servers, and thus I think, will be more secure.

With a clear iphone 6 setup, I send an sms to another phone, and it arrives from my apple id.

But I wanted that my sms messages be sent from ONLY my phone number.

The steps above are the solution, but to be sure, I would add another step.

When you

Step 1: Turn off iMessage and mms

Step 2: Turn on the Airplane mode.

Step 3: reboot the phone

Step 4: Turn off the Airplane mode.

Step 5: Unlock pin sim

Step 6: Go to messages setting, turn on mms, and then turn on iMessage

Step 7: When you turn on iMessage, it will prompt you to use you apple id for iMessage, DO NOT TOUCH THIS

Step 8: make sure send as sms is turned on

Step 9: you will see your phone number next to the 'send and receive' click on it

Step 10: Make sure that under YOU CAN BE RECHED BY IMESSAGE there is only your phone number, and there is a check mark next to it.

For Facetime, go to Facetime settings and click on your apple id email address, and click logout

Step 1: Turn on airplane mode

Step 2: reboot phone

Step 3: Turn airplane mode off, enter SIM pin, and go to Facetime

Step 4:turn it on, and do NOT click on 'use your apple id foir Facetime'

JUST make sure that under the ( You can be reached by facetime at) option under, is your mobile phone number only , with a check mark next to it

this should work

iMessage and FaceTime not working on iPhone 6 iOS 8.0.2
