boot camp installation hangs at realtek audio stepSearch or ask a question

I am trying to install boot camp for win 7 home prem 64 bits on Mac Pro laptop. The boot camp installer is hanging at the Realtek audio step. I tried other versions of boot camp, version 4.0.4326 and it complained that it did not support this system. I tried version 5.0.5033 and it complained that it did not support 64 bit. Any suggestions?

I'm having the same issue with Windows 10. Anyone found a fix for this? I tried going into the Bootcamp installer folder and install Realtek drivers manually which succeeded, but when I launch the Bootcamp installer again, it still gets stuck when installing Realtek drivers.

I'm still having difficulty getting this to work. I'll state precisely what I did as clearly as I can so I can receive the proper help.

I'm using rMBP 13 (2015). I have the ISO Windows 10 on a USB. I ran bootcamp with USB plugged in and followed the instructions. During installation I get stuck on the Realtek audio prompt within Windows 10 operating system as OP has mentioned.

I followed the steps which was mentioned as a solution from within Windows 10:

I go to "OSXRESERVED (D:) > BootCamp > Drivers > RealTek" folder and do the realtek setup.

Then I go to task manager and force quit the stalled bootcamp installation promp.

I do a computer restart.

I then go back to "OSXRESERVED (D:) > BootCamp > Drivers" and select Setup.

During the bootcamp installation it still gets stuck at the RealTek part. I also got some sort of error that had to do with Bluetooth but I clicked ok.

I don't know what I'm doing wrong so if someone could please help me as precisely as possible I would truly appreciate it.

In sum, within Windows 10 operating system while bootcamp is trying to install, I'm stuck on the RealTek portion. I tried the steps mentioned but it doesn't work.

I checked that thread but it doesn't help me. I'm able to use Windows 10 even though I get stuck on RealTek installing, but I still don't get audio, trackpad (rightclick) doesn't work, and I don't get a BootCamp Icon in the Menubar. That's just what I've noticed thus far. Not sure what else is added after the RealTek installation since I can't get past that part.

This is not correct. You need to let it continue, but only stop the RealTekSetup.exe. The steps in this discussion also state

after manully setup, open Task Manage, and kill the "RealtekSetup" process

If you kill the entire BC setup.exe, none of the drivers that follow RealTek will ever be installed.

wow i obviously didn't do it right. can't thank you enough for pointing that out. got it to work like a charm.

i'm assuming RealTek has to do with audio, but my audio is already working. My C drive is not called Bootcamp. There no longer is a bootcamp folder to navigate to where i can install the RealTek setup from the D drive. Will this be a problem since instructions said to manually install RealTekSetup?

Also is there supposed to be some icon or something thats supposed to be bootcamp that i can just click on so i can switch between OS and Windows back and forth?

My trackpad still doesn't right click. Not a huge deal but not sure if you know of an easy fix for this.

The Bootcamp folder is on the same drive that was used to hold the Windows 10 installation information. Did you use a USB drive or something else? If you removed it, put it back in and navigate to the Bootcamp folder.

Switching between OS X and Windows requires a reboot. In the icon list at the bottom right of the Quick Launch bar, there is a "Bootcamp" icon. Its typically not directly on the Quick Launch bar, but instead, its accessible from the little up-arrow. That brings up a panel that allows you to select OS X as the startup drive.

Your Audio may work using Microsoft generic drivers. Realtek driver should provide richer features. If you no longer have the Bootcamp setup.exe and associated drivers, you can download them from Apple using BC Assistant on the OS X side.

There are some Apple services which are installed. Please see https://help.apple.com/bootcamp/controlpanel/5.1/ for details. There is an icon on Control Panel and in the System Tray to allow you to switch to OS X from Windows side.

I used a USB stick to install. When I got stuck at the RealTek installation, I went to task manager and chose end task just for RealTek. The BC installation then bypassed RealTek and proceeded to install everything else.

I reinserted the USB as you mentioned, but now when I search bootcamp, it only appears in the C drive. The files seem to be different than during installation. From my E drive (USB stick) I only have the iso image. So it appears the folder in which to access bootcamp that you are referring to is no longer there. I can always just go online and install the RealTek so its not a big deal I think.

The minor issues I'm slightly concerned about are still the Trackpad doesn't right click and I don't have the BC icon in the quick launch bar. When I click the up arrow, I only see the following icons: Intel Iris Graphics and OneDrive.

I know I can just hold the Option key on a computer restart to choose which operating system to load, but I'd still like to have my system exactly the way it should have installed.

Also not sure if this is supposed to happen, but when I restart and hold the Option key to choose which system to load, many times I get 3 options (3 hard drive icon choices): 1 Macintosh and 2 Windows. I'd assume there should only be 1 Windows icon but there appears 2.

I did as you suggested but it just reinstalled everything I had initially done after I followed the end task RealTek advice.

I'm still not getting right click to work in trackpad. I somehow have bootcamp icon in system tray from Windows side. Am I also supposed to have bootcamp icon on the OS side?

Thats the only issues I have now, other than when I boot into Windows it flashes a few times while loading.
