Hi imodztech,

Almost same thing happened to me. My Iphone 4s suddenly powered off, and when trying to restart it, it will only show the apple logo all over again...( IOS 8 installed, not with the last update because lack of space in memory)

I've chatted with apple support an tried to reset it but nothing happened.

It won't even be recognized by my pc. ( FYI it showed an image of the charger and the word iTunes a couple of times)

I'll try what you suggested...

Any ideas?? I feel really frustrated.

Thanks!

Ok so if your in a Boot Loop ( continus Apple logo ) the PC or itunes will not recognize until Boot process completes.

So here is what I would do.

•Go To ipswdownloader.com and select your Device,Model, and select the 8.0 IPSW (Not 8.0.2)

and save save this to your Desktop.

•Place your device in DFU mode (Google or YouTube this)

•Open itunes and connect your device.

•itunes will show a msg that it found a device in Recovery Mode.

•Hold down the Shift Key and click Restore.

•Select the IPSW you just downloaded and click restore.

•Allow device to fully restore and do not disconnect until you see your device in itunes.

•Select Set Up As New

ONce device is fully functional AS NEW with nothing on it, plug device in and Charge to 100% and keep plugged in an additional 15min

•Connect to iTunes and restore. This will update to 8.0.2

AGain Set Up As New, go thru activation etc. Confirm device is functional

• once confirmed you can now Restore from Backup.

******If at any point you receive an Error, Please state what is says or error #, this helps tremendously when trying to help******

Thanks!!! I'll try this....!

In the meantime I would like to tell you that after trying to restore it will give me error # 9 (?)

I'm not in the States right now ( I'm in Argentina) otherwise, I would go to an Official Apple store and try to solve this...

Do you think Downloading IOS from that web site, may interfere with the warranty ? ( It's only 6 months old)

Thanks a lot for your help!!!!

I'm joining the club, but in the unfortunate subset who doesn't even seem to be able to complete a restore. Also error #9. Was trying the default 8.0.2 initially with the same error, then replicated again with the 8.0 from IPSWdownloader. Any further insights? Booking a Genius now. Ugh. Normally, I wouldn't be *that* upset, but I'm in Switzerland and everything opens late and closes early. This will probably require taking time off work, or spending the rest of the week without a phone.

Error 9 does not occur that often, let's see if we can get thru this.

Normally error 9 relates to security settings etc. But can come about for numerous reasons. Here are several things to try.

•Update iTunes to current version. After update is complete REBOOT COMPUTER.

•Be sure the cable you are using is an Apple Original.

***With all new software comes new coding. If the device cannot authenticate the cable the restore WILL fail! Just because it worked on an older OS does not mean it will work with the new OS. Even though a NON Aplle cable will charge the device does not make it compatible, the biggest reason for failure is DATA TRANSFER RATE this is compromised with lower grade wire used in NON Apple cables. This WILL cause restore failures. Please keep this in mind.

•Try a new USB port. If using a PC try a rear port as some computers front ports are connected like a HUB.

•Be sure your cable is plugged directly into the computer and not into a HUB, keyboard or any other device.

• Temporarily disable any Firewall or Antivirus

•Be sure you can contact the Apple server

**Open your browser and type gs.apple.com into the address bar, hit enter. If you land on any page other than an Apple page e.g. Cydia , the Restore WILL fail.

•Usually Error 9 will take a few Restore attempts to solve. Be sure to Reboot computer and Device before each try.

•Check your internet connection, again slow data transfer will cause restore errors.

**If you have access to your router, connect your PC or Laptop directly into it for a better connection and faster speeds.

Keep me Posted

I had tried all of those barring the gs.apple.com test, which I just successfully completed. The phone wasn't jailbroken. Perhaps I should add that the when the restore fails and the message (9) appears in iTunes, I get a brief blue screen of death on the phone to remind me of how this whole mess started. I wouldn't be surprised if the blue screen boot loop and restore failure are related in the end. Headed to Apple today. Interesting, I think my warranty ended just a week ago.
