Defective Iphone 6 screens?

Can anyone tell me if there is a defect in Iphone 6 screens?

I have had this phone all of 4 days and it is broken! It did not survive a 2 foot impact from a 32g spice bottle. I do not understand how there are videos showing the screen surviving hammers, waist and head high drops! I feel so deceived thinking this product was going to be better than the 4S that I upgraded from. (long story but the 4S survived 2 years without a scratch to the screen.. dropped numerous times) I checked the apple services and they want me to charge me 297 euros (we are in France) to mail-in a repair.

I have been using an iPhone since the first model came out and always been very careful with my phones, non of them had their screens cracked. When I bought my iPhone 6, I went even further - bought a silicon case and a screen protector, which I haven't used on my previous phones. On one occasion, when I opened the screen by pressing down and holding my thumb on the button to unlock the phone, the glass cracked between the button and the metal cover at the bottom. I must have pressed on it a few times, because I only realized it cracked when the bezel around edge of the button felt a bit sharp.

I work in Hungary - no Apple Store, only authorized dealers - they pretty much laughed at me and offered a swap for a refurbished model for about 300 Pounds. They gave me a number to call Apple - but they just simply couldn't offer any alternatives, since my phone was declared 'damaged out of warranty' by Apple's service centre in the Netherlands.

Fortunately, the screen hasn't cracked - it is only around the edge of the phone, hence the damage is only cosmetic - although I'm terrified it'll crack into the screen eventually. Every time I speak to someone, I'm being accused of deliberately breaking my phone - I can understand, that the manufacturers warranty doesn't cover incidents such as this, regardless of how it happened. I'm just very disappointed how this issue was handled altogether. 😟

My Apple iphone 6 glass has a hairline crack after only 12 days. I did not drop it. The glass is very weak now. I had a 4S for 6 years total and this never happened before even if I did drop the phone. Apple is covering up this problem. As you see on the forum it is difficult to find similar complaints. I am trying to read them but Apple is constantly posting over and over so you have to keep scrolling to read about others with similar problems

why does this page have 45,000 + views and only 181 comments? Is someone deleting them?

Of course there is no one deleting the posts, unless a post violated the terms of use we all agreed to when we joined the forum. As is common with virtually every forum however, is there are lot's of lurkers who don't post. Every time anyone in the world clicks on this topic, the forum registers a view. There's nothing evil or sinister going on. The reason there are only 181 comments is because the vast majority of the millions upon millions of iPhone 6 users are happily using their phones with no issues.

I Agree! That is why they should replace the ones that were not up to standard, instead of throwing accusations at the owner of being clumsy.

Given the vast majority of people never get a cracked screen, it's a "he said" "she said" type of circumstance. There's simply no way for Apple to know a customer didn't accidentally drop their phone. Or that someone else dropped it for them. They have policies governing accidental damage, which unfortunately means they really shouldn't make an exception for you, just because you "claim" you never dropped your phone.

Hi,

I went to Verizon and they said they hadn't seen this type of hairline crack before, but they could not replace the phone. I went to the Apple store and they took a look at it and replaced the screen while I waited at no cost to me. They could tell that the crack in the screen was not a result of the phone being dropped. It was still under Warranty and they replaced it even though I had not purchased Apple Care. I am very happy that they did this, but I fear that the iphone 6 is not as hardy as my old 4S.

I think the glass is defective, and I won't be surprised when Apple issues some kind of replacement/refund policy in a couple of years for those affected. My first iPhone 6+ screen was developing tiny cracks along the bottom from no drop at all. I was going to take it in the store to have them look at these unusual cracks, but then I dropped the phone from waist high on carpet. To my surprise the screen was shattered. I've owned an iphone, 3G, 3GS, 4, 4S, 5, 5S and never cracked a screen in the slightest.

I used my appleCare to get a replacement screen, even though I wasn't happy about it. Guess what, the new screen already has one of those unusual cracks at the bottom of the phone. No drop, just a weird crack! I don't know if it's stress on the phone from bending slightly??? I'm taking this one into the Apple store tomorrow for them to either replace it, or put a note on my file (can they do that??) so that when this screen cracks from carpet again, I can get a free replacement.

Anyone else seeing these odd tiny cracks under the glass?
