iPhone restore error 53 - not listed anywhere, what is the problem? has anyone seen it before???

Let me see if I understand this correctly. You ordered the phone online, and I'm guessing from Apple, since your next statement appears that you picked the phone up from Apple. It did not work correctly from day one, however rather than take it right back, you kept it for a month, and then attempted to return it? I'm I correct? You should have taken it back immediately when you discovered a problem. The time frame makes it very difficult to defend that nothing was done. Obviously they have discovered something inside that makes them believe the device has been altered.

There is some mistake in the statement. I bought it online, and it was actually shipped to me the next day through UPS. I confused it with the macbook pro I bought around the same time, and that was picked up from the store.

I didn't return it immediately because except for the updating IOS problem, it was working fine. So I thought it's just the new IOS problem, maybe it will be able to upgrade when the next IOS comes out. So when I realize there is something really wrong with the iphone is when the new IOS comes out and I want to try again, and this time using a PC iTune, thinking it will give it a proper upgrade, and finally the phone stopped working. So I took it back to Apple immediately. How would I know not being able to upgrade IOS is such a serious problem? And there are so many other people who have the same issue here. What would be the reason for me to want to modify my genuine iPhone with someone else other than Apple, within the 1st month of usage, plus I wasn't even aware it was defect!

I know it would be so much easier for us to return it on the first day of using it. But we honestly didn't know there's sth very wrong with it. It was working, just without updating iOS ability. And Apple didn't warn people saying "Hey, if your new iPhone 6 cannot update to new IOS, bring it back immediately. It's a serious problem". And in my issue, my warranty is void without my knowledge. Apple staff won't tell me exactly what's going on inside of my iPhone, but I heard them say it's missing components. Really hope this can work out. Coz we didn't do anything wrong to our iPhone. No, it is not a monopoly there are lots of other phones you can buy such as Samsung, HTC, LG, etc. Of course on every one of those if you work on the phone yourself you will void the warranty just like you do if you work on your iPhone.

They don't let you fix the phone because if you damage the device or use parts that come from other sources then they are unable to determine if the damage was caused by an error in manufacturing or a makeshift repair.

Hello, How you plan to do when all iPhones -6 have been sold this year to be without guarantee and begin to break with this error 53 ? When these phones are broken and their owners will complain! who you will tell them ? Apple does not want to listen to your complaints? no longer useful , you must buy another iPhone? or truth , we spend so much money on advertising that we forget how to do a good phone , please purchase an Android ..

I have the same problem wit my iPhone 6 plus and I cannot fix the problem please help...apple please do something to this error. because there are hundreds of people having this problem please apple don't let us to choose Samsung.. help us

I'm frustrated with error 53. I've been an Apple customer purchasing the iPhone 4, iPhone 5s, iPad 2, mini iPad, and now the iPhone 6. I have a perfectly functioning iPhone and now with this update I'm unable to use the phone, and still have to pay for the phone itself. I did get the front screen replaced, and I understand that it's now considered "tampered with", but at least let me use my iPhone on the old IOS system. Don't take the complete functionality away. I can't retrieve old photos or important documents I once had. I'm just out of luck. I have always been an avid iPhone user and a have argued many times with Samsung users why Apple products are the best products on the market. Now with this change I will definitely think twice about EVER purchasing an Apple product again. I had no idea there would be repercussions to getting my screen fixed. If I did I probably wouldn't have gone with a local repair shop, which I didn't think would be a big deal in the first place. I don't have a phone. Still paying for this phone. No photos. No documents. RIDICULOUS!

If you had not broken your phone by dropping it and voiding your warranty you would have been able to fix it under your warranty. If you could have it repaired in Singapore you might be able to do so for 1/2 the price of a new phone. Apparently this program is not available in Malaysia.

Nobody cares whether you do or not.

If you purchase a Samsung next time be sure not to replace the fingerprint reader yourself or you will be writing, "I'll never buy a Samsung device in my entire life after this bad experience."

hi I am having the problem with error 53 no way of completing to update my iph 6+. problem only started when I was trying to update to ios 9.2.1, I have the latest iTunes installed. any advise thanks.

The iPhone 5 runs the current iOS9, as does the 4S before it. You are misinformed, or have an iPhone 4.

You know, saying "You should always buy the device that best fits your needs" is not helpful to the people whose phones have been bricked, whose information has been lost, and whose wallet is now thinner. Let's have some Apple executives join the conversation to explain how they will fix this unfortunate technical problem, with either a free fix, or a free replacement iPhone.

There are no Apple executives participating here nor will there be. If you want to hear from them you will have to call or write them. They will then tell you that you can fix the issue by buying a new iPhone. If this is not acceptable to you then you need to take Meg's always good advice and buy something that fits your needs.
