FaceTime camera appears off-center

I noticed today that on my iPhone 6 the FaceTime camera on the front appears way off-center. I've attached a photo, but it's a little hard to see. It doesn't seem to interfere with the camera, but I don't really know that without a comparison and I haven't seen any other iPhone 6 in person to compare how it looks. Should I

take this in to have looked at?

Thanks for the compliment. On my birthday no less.

I think you completely missed my point. Why would someone take the time to post the issues they have with their phone when they could return it and get a nice new one without issues? Other than to complain, it makes no sense. They should make an appointment at their Apple Store Genius Bar and get the phone replaced.

If that makes too much sense, I'm sorry you don't get it.

No, this is not true, the crescent you see is not intended to be visible. I don't know its purpose, but it is probably a spacer, cushion or a defective adhesive component. I don't think it has anything to do with the optics of the camera and certainly is not a "glare ring" as you would never make one of these white. Further, you probably didn't notice because it was not visible until recently. It is 100% confirmed that this thing can (and probably will) continue to progress down and to the left. Again, check out my photo on page 10 - originally that looked exactly as your photo does.

You are right, i looked to your photo at 10th page, it's similar with my phone. However, your crescent is so big and my crescent can't seen when you looked over from long distance. I'm sure your crescent is seen everywhere and every angle. Mine is small at now after 2 months. I will ask it to Apple Store. How much time elapsed your iPhone get status that photo on 10th page ?

I agree; that's how I see this forum post being used as well. I'm on my second phone, and the crescent hasn't appeared yet. I must say, after getting my replacement phone, it's very drastic just how bad the camera looks with the crescent compared to how it is supposed to look. It goes from a barely visible camera lens to an eye-drawing oddity when the crescent is visible.

No, it's not. It's for getting technical assistance from your fellow users. Discussion or debate about Apple's policies or procedures is not allowed. Read the Terms of Use again. [https://discussions.apple.com/terms-and-conditions!input.jspa] If you don't like those Terms of Use or want to follow them, then don't be on this forum at all.

Quoted from the Terms of Use:

  1. Stay on topic. Apple Support Communities is here to help people use Apple products and technologies more effectively. Unless otherwise noted, do not add Submissions about nontechnical topics, including:
    1. Speculations or rumors about unannounced products.
    2. Discussions of Apple policies or procedures or speculation on Apple decisions.

Everyone that has this issue, you need to contact Apple. In most every case, there has not been shown that this cosmetic effect is causing a problem with the camera. Therefore, directing you to contact Apple is the appropriate response.

Discussing your feelings and opinions about Apple's response is a discussion to Apple's policies. Therefore, it's in violation of the Terms of Use.

Your opinion is irrelevant. All that matters is the facts and the guidelines. There are other forums you can visit if you want to gripe/whine/complain. But that is not the intent or function of this forum.

The technical question here is: What should I do about the off-center camera?

The answer is: Contact Apple for your support options if you feel that it is impairing your use of the device.

That's it. Everything else is extraneous and pointless. No one here can change or influence Apple's policies. Apple is not here to monitor discussion for feedback.

Why don't you contact forum admin and ask them to close this discussion then? And why are you on here discussing Apple policies? And by the way, the sub-domain is "discussions." Therefore, I think general discussion is perfectly permissible. Keep in mind that other people are reading these threads looking for help - reading through general discussion can be very helpful. Reading through post after post about Apple policies however is not - so please refrain from bringing up policies again.
