Ipad IOS 8 Bluetooth speakers no longer work

Upgraded Ipad 3 to IOS 8 and Boston Acoustics Bluetooth speakers no longer work. The speakers pair with the Ipad, but connection drops when opening any app that attempts to use the bluetooth connection. Seems like the updated IOS blutooth driver is the problem. I tested with Iphone 4, Iphone 5, ipad 2 running IOS 7

and all work fine. Tested with Iphone 6 plus, Ipad 3, Ipad 2 using IOS 8 and none of the IOS 8 devices work... Also did the IOS 8 patch and did not fix this issue.

The Boston Acoustics Speakers supports Bluetooth v2.1 + EDR, A2DP v1.2

Seems like Apple can't get the wireless side right, IOS 6 had issues with Wifi and Bluetooth muting, that was corrected in IOS 7, now another wireless problem that makes these $350 speakers a boat anchor..... and not usable.

Perhaps they need to hire some RF / Wireless engineers and do a better job of regression testing... I am a wireless engineer and know that we never make hardware or software upgrades without extensive inter op testing and friendly user trials...

I tried every possible solution and even returned my iPad Air 2 to its factory settings as advised by Apple support but nothing worked. Any BT device I tried can stream music to my Boston Acoustics XS 2.1 but my brand new iPad on iOS 8.1.3. I wrote a feedback to Apple as a last hope. You can also try that, the link is in that thread: Bluetooth problem is still persistent with iOS 8.1.3

Funny when did iOS 8.1.3 come out. It must have been when I was posting that earlier thread. Or when I was moving the furniture.

iOS 8.1.3 installed bluetooth sync with BA Soundware XS 2.1 speakers still a fail.

The irony to this is that I had an old Nano connected to the Soundware with the 3.5mm cable playing while I tried to sync. I pressed the input button to the flashing blue light to sync the phone. Got the not even one second connection as usual. Then I hit the input button on the Soundware remote back to the Red light setting the Nano was still playing over the cable connection.

Folks I'm not holding my breath till Apple fixes this one. Invest in a 3.5mm cable then be done with it. Resurrect that iPod shuffle or iPod Touch you never use any more as your dedicated BA Soundware XS 2.1 music streamer.

Don't sweat it travel_Living.

If you don't already have one just get a 3.5mm male to male cable to plug into the BA Soundware system. Your iPad/iPhone will play through them this way. There is an AUX 2 port with a 3.5mm rca connection on the back of the Soundware's subwoofer. Plug the other end into the headphone jack.

Works like a charm.

travel_Living it is not a Boston Acoustics issue. I didn't do anything to my BA Soundware XS 2.1. Nobody having a problem connecting their Apple device to the BA Soundware speakers did anything to their BA system.

What we all did was update our iOS software to iOS 8 which has broken the use of bluetooth in many ways. They (Apple) have patched back in some bluetooth functionality in iOS 8 but not all.

When iOS 8 connects to the BA Soundware speakers bluetooth signal iOS 8 immediately pauses the music app. That is what happens to me and seems to be happening to everyone else posting here about the BA Soundware XS 2.1 speakers.

Kudos to Apple. Thankfully we didn't have to wait for iOS 9 to get a fix. Hey we still have the 3.5mm line in connection on the back of the BAXS bass speaker in case bluetooth gets broken again.

With the iOS 8.2 update the problem now for my iPhone 5c the Safari app when I type in a url address nothing happens when I press go etc. Strange. At least my bookmarks work.
