My iPhone 5 keeps on asking for activation....

All the time it does this, and it's searching for service the whole time and all of a sudden the Apple logo appears and wants to be activated and I've activated it lots of times, but keeps on coming. Is is because i'm running iOS 8.0.2?!! Sick of this, HELP!!! 😟

I'm experiencing the same problem right now. I bought my Iphone 6 in Canada this November and 1 week ago came back to Russia and this happened. My phone is constantly turning off and asking for activation (probably like every 15 minutes). I've also tried to fix it: restored, removed Find my Iphone, My Icloud, but nothing really works. Now this is not a phone but a useless devise for $900+... What is happening, Apple?

I was told that the update could have failed if the wi-fi connection dropped during the update. Do you have an Apple store nearby? I've also switched the wifi off and only turn it on when I need to download emails or use whats app of bbm. This is not the solution and I do wish Apple would reply as I am seriously considering changing brands 😠

I had the same issue after updating to IOS 8.2. The phone would ask for reactivation 10-15 times per day. it would work if you had WIFI but if you were on the LTE network, you could not reactivate the phone!

I went to Apple store and they believed it to be defective hardware or defective SIM card.

We started by replacing the SIM card and that worked well for about 2 months...until the next update to IOS 8.3 when it started happening again.

Either this is a strange coincidence or it is related to a hardware/software defect in the iPhone.

Apple will not replace it if it is over warranty but sell you a refurbished unit at a cheaper rate.

If you insist on keeping an iPhone, the Extended warranty is probably a safe bet because the iPhone is not very reliable.

I Also have this problem on iPhone 5. Have had new battery, used in factory settings (without backup added) had settings changed, stopped find my iPhone and have had a visit to Apple shop as well as several phone contacts to Apple. Have also had contact with Vodafone, my cellular provider. Still the phone regularly (might be 3 times a day or might be only every few days) requires activation. Will only work with wifi, I live in rural Australia so often no wifi at least phone calls come in but otherwise phone a waste. It is just over 2 years old so out of warranty!

Hello,

Yesterday I was facing the same problem too. I was able to activate it like twice, and this morning it went like that again, so I tried turning off Find my iPhone, turning airplane mode on and off, basically every advice which I found here, but nothing happened, so I decided to make a full restore (including data) and now I am totally unable to activate my phone via a stable WiFi connection (so this cannot be a problem), and it keeps searching for service even when the SIM card is not inserted (I'd say because of the lack of service).

I am guessing it has to do something with the hardware but it's strange since I didn't do anything like dropping to have any problem like this, it started while the phone was in my pocket.

Verizon just hung up on me. Went through about 5 minutes of prompts, ending with "your call can't be completed at this time."

Called back and reached a tech support person who said Verizon can't stop the activations since Apple is sending them. Obviously that excuse doesn't work with me. Waiting for the VZW person to get an Apple engineer on the phone.

My iPhone 5 keeps on asking for activation....
