My iPhone 5 keeps on asking for activation....

All the time it does this, and it's searching for service the whole time and all of a sudden the Apple logo appears and wants to be activated and I've activated it lots of times, but keeps on coming. Is is because i'm running iOS 8.0.2?!! Sick of this, HELP!!! 😟

Just got off the phone with Apple. Verizon Wireless just hung up, wouldn't help at all. This iPhone replaced my iPhone 5 that exploded. My receipt says that this phone is covered by a 90 day warranty, but Apple just told me it's not covered by any warranty. We'll see how far that goes (it's only been 47 days). Earliest appointment to meet with the "geniuses" is tomorrow afternoon.

See reply of ARMartinez below. It worked for me.

Ok I spoke to Apple support today, the issue apparently is Find My iPhone. So if you log into your iCloud account through iCloud.com this is what i was told to do.

Go to iCloud.com>Find My iPhone>All Devices

Once you are there Choose your device

Turn off your phone

once your phone is off remove your device from Find My iPhone

So far this has worked, now don't get me wrong i just did this today so hopefully its a fix.

Same problem here. iPhone 5s, two years old. It started for no reason about a week ago with bad reception ("searching"), then asked for activation a few times. Tried the SIM in an other phone and the SIM works perfectly. Cellular reception is totally gone for a few days, and it takes longer and longer before it activates. I tried all proposed fixes: restarting, airplane mode on/off, remove from find my iphone. It's now stuck at "unlocking" after I entered the code for the the SIM. It seems bricked now.

I suspect a hardware failure like a broken antenna or broken SIM tray, but then why would the phone want to re-activate because the antenna breaks?

I have this issue now and none of the support items apply to me. I do not use iCLOUD so I cannot TURN OFF device there. I am not near Wi-fi (at work) so I cannot use Wi-Fi to connect. Apple is not responsive to this issue and has not posted an actual fix. The store tells me they have no idea since I am not on iCloud. Sounds like something Microsoft would do! 🙂
