Before you tell me to do some "fix"....

YES I am connected to WiFi

YES my internet works perfectly on every other device in my house

YES I have rebooted my router

YES I have tried closing every single app

YES I have rebooted my iPad 2

YES I have turned off my iPad 2 and turned it back on a day later

YES I have upgraded to iOS 8.0.2

YES I have tried a factory restore

YES the problem started immediately after iOS 8 upgrade

*** is wrong with letting me downgrade to 7.1.2. Seriously. iOS 8 is a steaming pile of crap for iPad 2 users. And Apple support blames it on hardware issues of course. So, did thousands of iPad 2 users all just had the same hardware failure at the same time? Just look at the forums and see how many are having the same exact problem. And, if it is just a "select few", then why did all of these posts start AFTER iOS 8?

Even if you try to blame it on hardware, that still has nothing to do with going back to iOS 7.1.2. Every problem started with iOS 8. I had zero problems before iOS 8.

Bottom-line....LET ME GO BACK TO 7.1.2!

I Have the same exact problem. My iPad 2 was working perfectly until iOS 8. Now everything runs slow, it hangs up and freezes. Never did that before. I wish I had not upgraded but now it seems I'm stuck. iOS 8.02 is no better. So frustrated!

I tried lots of suggestions to improve terrible ios8 performance on my 3 year old iPad2, nothing worked UNTIL I followed the instructions in this article and did a hard reset. As by magic problem solved

http://www.devicegarage.net/diy-repair-blog/fix-slow-ios8-on-older-iphones

This does take time, but well worth it. Not only did the performance improve dramatically, I also got a lot of storage back. I guess any computer after several inplace OS upgrades and three years of hard usage will appreciate a reinstall - my iPad2 most certainly did :-)

Darn, just updated the latest iOS 8.1 fix, thinking it would solve my issues with the iOS 8 on my iPad 2, but now it still has the same problems, when I first turn my ipad 2 on, you see the apple, then my homescreen flashes fast, then it blacks out for a couple minutes, response time for links, typing, or anything is soooooo slow and I can no longer play video clips. wish I just kept the old iOS 7, it worked beautifully.

Peeps, chill.

Yes it's absolutely a pain that iOS 8 breaks your iPad

no, Apple don't monitor the forums so stamping your feet and threatening wont achieve much at all.

The only thing that seems to work, and I can confirm through personal experience is:

1. Do a backup through iTunes. Encrypt the backup and it will save passwords.

2. in iTunes, click Restore Your iPad - top Pane (not Restore Backup)

this is will download iOS8 and instal it fresh.

3. When your iPad boots up, Restore from Backup.

it should work fine.

Remember that that spotlight index may have to rebuild - give it 24 hours....

4. If no good still, then you have an app that is interfering with proper operation.

Fixing this will be painful and slooooow. Open beer here and get ready for s long one....

5. Repeat step 2. You will see that the iPad works great (hopefully)!

6. Suggest you'll have to restore settings like mail etc manually

7. Install app by app till you find the culprit(s).

Good luck and stay icy.

Ever since the upgrade to ISO 8 while in Safari there are now many sites where the links fail to work until I zoom in on them. I can also say that wifi is slow, typing can have delays, Safari blips out, the machine has frozen a few times and did not reset during the first few tries. My iPad 2 runs like a cheep knock off. I can safely say this all happened when I upgraded from 7.1.2 to 8.0.2. After 3 years of dependable service, this is very disappointing.

I am having many of the same problems others have posted on here with their iPad 2s. Mine used to work wonderfully well (pre-iOS 8) and I never saw a need to upgrade to a newer iPad. Then I installed iOS 8 and the subsequent iterations and my iPad 2 is a hunk of junk. I've tried the factory reset, etc. etc. and it's still slow, choppy, often unresponsive, etc. etc. Internet browsing is like surfing on dial-up (if I can even open any links at all). Very unhappy. Meanwhile, my husband has an iPad Mini which he has kept on iOS 7 and his works great. I'm so mad I installed iOS 8.

TThank God I'm not the only iPad2 user who is still having snags despite yet another update to iOS 8

i would suggest that contrary to a previous post apple will monitor these forums, good way of researching customer feed back for market research, and that being the case Mr Apple please resolve these issues with either a bug free 8.1.1 or allowing us to go back to ios 7

THe likelihood is that the longer this goes on the more likely it's going to get in the press and hey........Samsung, Nokia and all the other competitors start rubbing their hands with glee as Apple gets another dent in its reputation and looses more of its market share

bit of a no brainer reall
