phone call from Yosemite does not work

Calling from Yosemite does not work at all. It attempts a call using iPhone but then it say "Call failed" / "Try Again" Anyone has a cure?

EDIT: Yes I am on WiFi. Both the phone and the computer are on the same WiFi. iPhone is running iOS8...

I have an iPhone 6 running 8.1 and a new MBP with Yosemite. I don't have the option to turn on cellular calls in FaceTime settings on my iPhone, it's simply not there. All devices are using the same iCloud account for everything bar the app store. When I try to call from Yosemite, I just get an error saying "iPhone Calls Not Available. Your iPhone must use the same iCloud ad FaceTime account. They are using the same account I promise! No wi-fi calling enabled, it's not even an option. I'm in the UK on giffgaff's network, not sure if that's an issue. EDIT: OK so as one last try straight after tying this I signed out of FaceTime at the same time on my Mac and my iPhone. I signed back in again first on the Mac, then on the iPhone, and the setting to allow Cellular calls appeared. Sorted!

Ok after 4 days and 10 hours of Tier 2 support I got my handoff and continuity working, now able to receive and send calls. All functions working on my late 2012 iMac. That's the good news...

Now the bad news. You will have to do a bootable disk for Yosemite http://osxdaily.com/2014/10/16/make-os-x-yosemite-boot-install-drive/ and then do a totally clean install on your hard drive http://osxdaily.com/2014/10/18/clean-install-os-x-yosemite/ which means erasing hard drive. Obviously make sure you have backed your hard drive before doing this...This should take about an hour to do but once you do it 100% handoff and continuity will now work. Just make sure before you start reinstalling files and applications you test to make sure handoff is working. Once you start installing applications keep checking that your handoff works so you can eliminate any software that is conflicting with handoff. I would AVOID installation of any Virus Scan Software for now on your Mac.

Anyway good news I have it working bad news had to wipe hard drive but it actually did need a cleaning. Will now go through installation of prior apps and see if any of them including Parallels and Virus scans were the villians.

It takes a little bit of your time but the amount of time wasted with all these other fixes posted here(assuming you have followed Apples instructions on signing in and checking off proper boxes in General, signed into same iCloud account and FaceTime is checked into same account with accept cellular calls) you will be saving yourself any further headaches

Yes after erasing HD and doing a clean install problem solved everything with Yosemite is working phone calls, handoff and continuity. That being said be aware that if you then migrate back your files after doing a clean install you will have the same problem. We are still trying to identify which program(s) is the root of the call fail bug... I have a feeling it is either an anti virus problem or Parallels problem.

I did do a migration unfortunately migration didnt give me option which apps to migrate all or nothing...So wasted 2 hours migrating and again had same issue with call failure did another HD erase and clean install and we are again working; so 100% it is a 3rd party software issue on HD that is causing the call failure problems

When you do a clean reinstall of Yosemite you do get all the standard applications that came with Mac

Mid-2014 rMBP and VZW iPhone 5S. Did clean installs yesterday of both Yosemite and 8.1. Everything set from the beginning, no imported or migrated info.

All Handoff features working marvelously, except phone call Continuity

Like many others here, I have logged and and logged out of all iCloud on both devices. All settings are correct and log in information is the exact same. Phone call works VERY infrequently, randomly, and the most reproducible event is that incoming phone call don't get picked up by continuity and that if I try to initiate a call from the MBP, then I get the must be on the same network error.

...maybe in 10.10.1

phone call from Yosemite does not work
