Where is option to have side bar in iTunes 12 ?

Since, 11 iTunes has been disabling my option of having the sidebar... which is annoying... but now I cant find the option to have it again... since I found this better and easier to use than that ribbon of silly icons... It is a pain in the neck dragging a song to my iPod, in its specific playlist(still don't know how to do it properly in this new version) ... This is why I had the side bar, it was constant to the GUI design of Finder...

Please enable the option to have iTunes sidebar again... the flat GUI is irritating as it is, but getting rid of the option to have the sidebar just made me crazy, mad and insane.

I agree with those that are frustrated. I have sent feedback...be sure you do that (right from within iTunes).

Okay, they want it this way. Fine, some people like it. Fine, some people don't. What I have liked about Mac OS is how you could customize or use as factory. You want it viewed in the "classic" way or "sidebar" way, you could do that. They took away the option to customize it to your preference. There should be an option to "view with sidebar" or something similar.

Apple does sometimes react to feedback. No, it will never go all the way back, but they have been known to add things back in. I.e., Mail has an option to view as classic, Save As "kind of" came back, etc. Eventually, things do get totally removed too, like the optical drive! LOL!

Keep sending feedback and let them know how frustrating it is for you to get things done!

It's easy to see how to turn sidebar/playlists off/on (in v 12) if we all look at the same picture. See attached two screenshots. If your sidebar is not showing (or was showing but went away) then click on the eighth-note music icon at far left of your screen. Now look across to middle of the screen. In version 12 you should see several tabs (My List, Playlists, etc). Click on PLAYLISTS and the your sidebar/playlist appears. However, if you click over to your Radio icon and then go back to MyMusic the sidebar will disappear (don't ask even ask). Just click PLAYLIST again. Hope that helps.User uploaded fileUser uploaded file

I 100% agree…put the sidebar back where everyone wants it and then leave the sidebar alone.

The music Playlists behavior of iTunes 12 is the same as the default behavior for iTunes 11:

User uploaded file

The difference is iTunes 11 gave users the option (through View > Show Sidebar) to change the behavior from the default so the sidebar is always visible. It is unclear how many users prefer that option.

I hope the techs at Apple pay attention to these discussions and fix this problem in the next release.

ASC is intended for user to user help. It is unlikely anybody at Apple who can do anything to change the behavior of iTunes will ever see these discussions. If you want to contact the people at Apple that can, use the Product Feedback link, select the appropriate product (in this case https://www.apple.com/feedback/itunesapp.html) & choose "An Enhancement Request" for the feedback type.

Alternately, you can use the "Provide iTunes Feedback" item in the iTunes menu to get to the same feedback web page.

Couldn't pick and sync various podcast episodes - couldn't delete played episodes - couldn't manage playlists at all - couldn't remain sane and still use iTunes 12 so I deleted it and replaced it with iTunes 11.

For those of you having trouble doing this, I think this guide might help. http://www.macworld.com/article/2839797/unhappy-with-itunes-12-heres-how-to-reve rt-to-itunes-11.html

p.s. time to waste the entire iTunes team over there at Apple and hire a few 14 year olds. This "upgrade" was just plain stupid and never should have even got to Beta. Whatever drugs they are taking over there I would like a crate.

The "upgrade's" intent is to get you to spend more money in the itunes store. It doesn't matter if they made using itunes more difficult, which they did. They care only about the Apple stock price. They don't care what you think as long as you spend money with Apple. Nothing else matters.

I'm running v11 on my main machine, v12 on my laptop (my test mule) and v12 on a new Mac Mini I bought to connect to my main TV. V12 is not really all that bad. But it's clearly a step backward in ease of use. Clearly, Apple doesn't care else they wouldn't have made the changes. In addition, Yosemite looks like it was designed using crayons. Mac OS is no longer elegant, it's just meh. Apple entropy is what I call it...

I agree, a nice way to put it about the design of Yosemite. Still refuse to upgrade on numerous grounds... even the iTunes store, flipping banners of movies, tracks , apps is better in version 11... there is 3D depth and differentiation... in iTunes 12 it looks like Microsoft Store or Google Play... Theyen made the app store app look terrible and hard to navigate in even when still using Mavericks...

Help me please:
How do I ask a very urgent question. I am a member, (since Jan), I have posted the question twice, but there is nothing under my 'activity'. I am sure they will be somewhere...
Sorry to come here, but someone should be able to help.
The recent absurdity that I have got with Itunes, the necessary evil, is that it will not play my songs, after I added 2 words to my My Music folder, moved it temporarily somewhere and moved it back.
When I click on a song, It inevitably brings that box: 'this song could not be used because the original file could not be found....'
it is absurd, to the point of baffling.
If you could help a relative novice direct me to how and to whom I pose this important question, I would be very grateful!
Yours,
Julian

"The "upgrade's" intent is to get you to spend more money in the itunes store."

The irony is that I'm spending less money in the store because I can no longer easily access my playlists while in the store to find new music that will complement my workout formats. The other reason is that version 12 is so quirky that I am reluctant to buy any more stuff for fear I'll lose it.

This is a general response to the entire forum (not just to Zanaelf).

I too HATED not having a sidebar in iTunes 11, but then I made myself get used to not having it BEFORE the enabled adding it back in the next revision. After a few months, I actually didn't miss it as much as I thought I would and I like they implementation even better in iTunes 12. I think you have to give it time, and by that I mean real time without the option of always having it there. AS for those who say that you could control eveything from Sidebar view.. they simply moved a few elements to the top that are always there. You can still control everything like you could before. it's not more or less "Intuitive" as it was before, it's just moved the side to the top. It's simply just different.

Another cool feature that may have been mentioned it that if you are in ANY other view than sidebar, (Music view for example) you can drag an album or selected song, or movie, or podcast, and start to drag it to the right and your sidebar playlists sidebar will Appear automatically.. This allows you to add music, movies, Albums even to your playlists without having to be in playlists view. Once you drop the selected media into your playlists, the sidebar will disappear again out of the way. This still may not be your ideal situation but it's a cool effect none the less (kind of like dragging optical media from the desktop to the trash can watching it change from a trash can to an Eject icon.

I'm not trying to jump on anyone here. I'm saying try it for a month or two.. You may find that you After you get used to it, it's not so bad. You still may PREFER the sidebar back, but find that this current isn't so bad.

One last thing is that if you leave iTunes in Playlist view.. you can still see playlist view when you re-open it...(with the sidebar out). Just breathe and give it time.. it's really not SO bad.

Have you tried renaming the folder back to its original name and location?

I agree. As has been said, lodge your complaint via feedback and then get used to the changes because Apple won't go back. There's a chance that given enough complaints we might see the old side bar return, but I wouldn't count on it. Make peace or be miserable. It is worth being miserable? I don't think so. 🙂
