remote desktop 3.72 updater in App Store

I just updated to Yosemite and the App Store is showing an update for Apple Remote Desktop (administrator) 3.72. That's the version I'm already running. Clicking on update brings up a message saying it's already installed. I bought this software before the App Store and it's been updated regularly but now I can't get rid of the update entry in the App Store. (I know, sounds confusing.) I tried dragging the application to the Trash and reinstalling but it remembers all the other installed files and won't let me update it. I dragged the application back from the trash and at least it runs. Has anyone seen this since upgrading to Yosemite? Is there a way to use my current serial number with an App Store version? Thanks.

Same issue. It wouldn't be a problem for me, if the App Store icon didn't have the red badge on it. My non-retina screen displays the number of updates in such a small font that I cannot tell how many updates are waiting. I have to check the **** app every day now, to see if there is more than just the ARD update waiting.

I tried, in Terminal:

sudo softwareupdate -l but it doesn't even show ARD. Probably as, like others, I installed from DVD.

IMHO, this needs to be fixed.

This sounds like 3.72 doesn't work at all under Yosemite. Can anyone confirm they can actually use ARD under Yosemite? @kwbailey Do you have an educational support contract with Apple? If so, I hope you've already contacted support. If not, at least two people on this forum have and I've submitted a bug report for the updater. I checked my updater and it still says there's an update.

At this point my installation is so messed up it doesn't work at all and I can't get it to update from a re-install with ver3.

Yes, I have the same updater issues, but this issue does not affect the functionality of ARD Admin. I can run it without any problems other than that pesky update notification that I can't get rid of. You seemed to be saying that you can't use ARD at all since upgrading to Yosemite. I must point out that my copy of ARD comes from DVD, NOT from the App Store....

same here. if I delete it and try the update it tells me it has either been cancelled or is owned by another Apple ID.

otherwise it tells me to select "Software Updates..." which of course is no longer an option.

Also noticed ARD client is 3.8 under Yosemite.

Remote desktops are not stable with image artefacts popping up all over the place and then just disappearing.

Hope they work something out soon.

Everyone,

Just got a response from Apple bug reporter. My bug (18701223) was a duplicate of 18616782 so they closed mine. There's no way for me to search or monitor someone else's bug report but the good thing is someone else submitted it way before me so Apple knows about it. It has been suggested that the more duplicate bug reports submitted the more Apple will work on it. If anyone else here is an ADC member, please submit a bug about the updater not working and hopefully it will get fixed soon.
