usb mouse not working with Yosemite, help!

Just installed Yosemite on my Mac mini (Late 2012, 2.3 GHz Intel Core i&, 4GB memory). Yosemite appears to have installed correctly, but my USB logitech mouse is no longer working. I've been using this wireless Logitech mouse+keyboard combo for years without problems. The model number is CE0682. The combo has a receiver which plugs into a single USB port on the Mac mini, and pairs with both a wireless keyboard + wireless mouse. The keyboard works fine but the mouse doesn't respond at all. I've tried replacing the batteries, even though they reported as good, and tried repairing, even though the keyboard working indicates there was no need for it. When I unplug and replug the receiver, it is clear that Yosemite recognizes that I've removed and replugged in a mouse. (I was able to open the System Preferences -> Mouse panel by using Screen Sharing from a laptop running Yosemite, and use a remote mouse that way. With the Mouse system preference page open, when I unplug and replug in the mouse, the preference page clearly indicates there is no mouse attached then that there is a mouse attached.) I've also tried plugging in the receiver to a Mac laptop running Yosemite and again the keyboard works but the mouse doesn't.

Hi ! I think I have the same issue as what you're experiencing. I installed Yosemite yesterday, without a hitch, then installed Java. Now my Diablo III steel series mouse freezes along with my magic mouse and the only solution is to press and hold the power button, as the keyboard stops responding as well. at first i thought it was a USB port issue, but i tried plugging my Diablo Headset into the same port, and it works. My mac works fine as long as my gaming mouse isn't connected. Thats not good for my games though 😟 . I do hope there will be an update / fix for this soon...

What we need is an updated driver designed to work with Yosemite. If you check the link provided in the message above, the link clearly indicates the current driver, "lcc3.9.1.b20" is for UP to OS 10.9. However, the good news is that OS 10.10 (Yosemite) IS now included in the drop-down list of Apple OS X operating systems. That was NOT the case 3 days ago. The note with it says, "No software available".

So, this suggests that Logitech may be getting the message from emails and phone calls about the need for a Yosemite driver update. Hopefully, they'll publish that update soon.

On my mid-2013 MacBook Air, my docking setup is useless as both my Logitech USB webcam & wireless keyboard/mouse are useless: camera isn't recognized; mouse points but doesn't click; and volume keys on KB don't work anymore.

I'm putting this one squarely on Apple as a quality control issue as they've followed a traditional release cycle and had betas & release candidates to test with.

I've reset my SMC & cleared my PRAM to no avail. It's creeping on a week of having to use a mini-Lenovo USB mouse with my limited function keyboard. Shame on this release Apple: next time, going to wait at least a month before upgrading.

You disagreement doesn't change the fact that for some reason Logitech USB devices fell off the quality control matrix of Yosemite being release-ready. Apple, as the owner and release authority of the OS, knew or should have known of the potential issues given the market share that Logitech has among peripherals.

Logitech doesn't have, to my knowledge, an inside track into Yosemite. Cheers.

FACTS: Logitech, like all software developers, did have advance warning and did have access to information about Yosemite. Many developers did prepare and release updated product drivers or app updates immediately after Apple released Yosemite. Some even released them BEFORE Yosemite was released. Logitech has a reputation for being SLOW to update their product drivers. Literally every piece of software on my MBPro has been updated for several days now... except for the Logitech Control Center system pref. Enjoy the wait.

...that's actually an opinion unless you work for either Apple or Logitech. Facts are things that can be proved empirically.

For example, clicking not working on my mouse; that's a fact. Conjecture about who had access to code and when is sheer conjecture absent inside knowledge. Who has control of the code-base for Yosemite (Apple) is a fact since they're very clear and particular about things like that.

An interesting example that supports my opinion that the code-base isn't as tight as it should be is the issue Yosemite is having with wifi: http://nakedsecurity.sophos.com/2014/10/22/os-x-yosemite-wi-fi-problems-can-you- help-us-solve-them/ --. The 802.11x protocols are public (fact) and Apple should have designed Yosemite to be free of such issues. Similarly, USB signaling is pretty standard as my camera & mouse KB combo works w/ Linux (Debian) & Win7 w/o Logitech driver installs.

Ultimately, I'm just hoping they fix it soon as I've come to depend on Apple products since my blue & white g3 tower in the late 1990s. The fact is that this type of quality control mess is an exception rather than the rule. Regardless, I'm hoping for a fix from Apple.

Well, I disagree with AMCarter3. My Logitech mouse has worked with basic functionality (i.e. pointing & left-right clicking) in all previous OSX versions. In Yosemite, this functionality is gone and judging from the number of complaints, this wouldn't have been too difficult to notice and fix in the beta-testing phase. Anyway, I hope that Apple will provide a fix in the next update. The good news is that the Logitech control center software (see e.g. algea's post) did the trick. Clicking works again 🙂.
