Yosemite, poor performance with Apple TV

I usually use my apple tv as second display over wifi with my MacBookAir6,2 13'' 8GB RAM but today i installed Yosemite from App Store and i can't use my apple tv as a second display because the video streaming is really slow and is really annoying work with that performance, i tried to use mirror display over airplay too but i had the same issue. it a problem with Yosemite ?? when will apple repair that ??. I also tried to use the P2P airplay without my wifi access point only with my mac and apple tv but its the same issue.

😠😢 I really miss when apple worked with almost any problems.

I just can't get my MacBook Pro and Apple TV to connect since upgrading to Yosemite - it keeps telling me to turn on home-sharing and although it's already turned on, ATV cannot access my libraries...ATV has the latest IOS also. I've tried resetting ATV, turning off the router, restarting the laptop, all the things i can think off to get things up and running but to no avail - so it's very frustrating, but i'm sure Apple will be coming out with a fix soon.

Well after some research, it looked like a firewall problem with my McAfee software so I added the required line items into the Advance settings for the Ports to be open for 'Home Sharing' and it's working - so logic isn't always the answer, sometimes there are workarounds that have to be determined and they are not always handed out on a plate.

That said Yosemite is doing some quirky things and i do hope an update is forthcoming very soon.

I did some additional tests. I connected my MacBook Air to the another Apple TV and it wasn't that bad as my new one. I did also a clean install of OS X . I connected to Apple TV in my work using different WI-Fi router (TP-Link) than I have at home (Cisco).

There is no chance to use Mac display clone feature and watch any video file. The streaming is still freezing for a second.

I tried to disconnect bluetooth, I have also iTunes library sharing turned off. Should I return Apple TV to the store?

Hello Guys, there's no issue or what so ever in new Os X Yosemite or Even the Old OS X. I figure it out, its in firewall settings. Just manage it or just uncheck the blocks there in firewall options settings. Then all your problems will be gone, connecting to Apple TV , or playing iTunes or even 3rd party applications.

Seamlessly mirroring.

Just dont forget to like. Enjoy!!!🙂

Bro, no need to change anything no need for sharing, the problem is in firewall setting try to manage it by unchecking the blocks on Firewall options settings,

then all your problems will be solved. Even yosemite or mavericks its not an issue, then connect again in Apple TV, everything will be seamlessly connected.

Dont 4get to like

Enjoy!!!😁

I have not read all of the responses but I read a lot of them and never saw this suggestion. I called Apple support and explained that I was using an iMac and a Macbook while trying to stream to both an Apple TV 2nd and 3rd generation and was having the problems described on this post with streaming being very choppy and similar complaints. I did not have the problem when I plugged my macbook into the tv with an HDMI cable I had no issues mirroring onto the screen. The guy at Apple had me unplug my router for 30 seconds which happens to be an Apple Time Capsule that broadcasts wifi as my router. I plugged it back in and let it boot up and voila! Streaming is now working fine from my macbook. I am however still having the issue with my iMac. I am thinking the issue there is the location of the iMac in relation to the router and Apple TV. I hope this helps and if anyone has any thoughts on the location theory of mine let me know.
