Yosemite broke Apple TV mirroring

I upgraded my iMac to Yosemite yesterday. I found that Apple TV mirroring is broken. I can only hear voice and can't choose mirror.

I completely agree that it is an issue with Yosemite that needs to be addressed.

My router in wireless-n and that's the protocol at which the mac book connects. If I leave Bluetooth on, the mirror is completely unusable and continues to be even if I subsequently turn it off, at which point the only fix is a full reboot. This makes the mirror somewhat usable.

Also I've found that if I've been using the mac book for some time and I turn mirroring on, regardless of whether Bluetooth is on, or has been on, or not, the mirror is unusable with the only solution being a full reboot. This suggests to me that there is a memory leak somewhere.

Sorry I don't have a solution for you, just here with you = We have two Macbook Airs, updated both to 10.10.3 yesterday and Mirroring video /audio playback stopped working. I started a discussion this morning on the subject as I couldn't find any other reference to issues with 10.10.3

It is definitely an issue with the Yosemite update, I can cast video via Chrome to the same television from my Mac to our Chrome cast, can also use Airplay from iPhone to TV.

How do we highlight these issues to Apple? The support page just times out when I try and file a case.

It is April 17, 2015 6 months later after Yosemite released to all and most people are still having problems with mirroring their macs to apple TV. When will Apple address this issue?

I agree with most this is an issue relating to Yosemite..

Airplay worked flawlessly before Yosemite..it appears the mirroring issue is related to mid 2011 macs as I have one as well.

I have narrowed down to a straight ethernet cable connected to apple tv and I am able to airplay (songs and video) via iTunes but not mirror my display. Apple TV up to date Mac up to date.

All other devices work my iPad and iPhone work flawlessly to mirror display no hiccups nothing, just the mac does not even try to work. Turning bluetooth off does not solve issue. Reverting back to 10.9 fixes issue. Problem is in Yosemite hands down.

Still have the same issue, have tried so many things to isolate what exactly is causing this to no avail. have just tried the latest dev build of yosemite and it is present in that, also tried the dev beta of el cap and still airplay is unusable there. This is absolutely ludicrous, an advertised feature! of hardware apple just slashed prices on! to push to more users! has been broken for an entire OS generation???

I had this problem using AirPlay with a newly purchased iMac 5K – Apple TV played audio only, no video.

My solution: uninstall the application "Air Display", using its provided uninstaller.

I had never used Air Display on the iMac, or even intentionally installed it; it came onboard when I used Migration Assistant to copy stuff over from my old Mac Pro. Uninstalling Air Display fully enabled AirPlay on the iMac.

My new iMac 27" 5K Retina was mirroring to my ATV3 perfectly a few weeks ago, but STOPPED outta no where... and i get the BLACK SCREEN, showing it's connected... i get the "extended desktop" only option... and NOTHING has worked!

It works perfectly FINE through the itunes app on my imac, but not an extended desktop NOR a mirror display.... however it works FINE on my phone and ipad!!

WEIRD!!!

Hi i just recently purchased MBP Retina (2015) running OSX Yosemite 10.10.4.

I am experiencing the same lag problems streaming to Apple TV connected to a Samsung 1080P TV.

I have never had an issue streaming of any other device, including iphone 5, 5S, 6 and ipad 2.

My girlfriend also just purchased a Macbook Air (2015) this is also OSX Yosemite 10.10.4 and has NO PROBLEMS streaming.

I have looked through countless forums, most suggest connectivity/wifi problems or put it down to a bug in OSX Yosemite.

I am confident the problem lies with the retina display and the downscaling to a TV, i have tried various options including "Match display to Apple TV" but nothing seems to work.

It is really frustrating......with most devices now coming out with retina displays you would think apple would have this under control by now.
