Yosemite + Mindstorms EV3 = Bluetooth fail?

Prior to my upgrade to Yosemite, I had the Lego LabVIEW for Mindstorms EV3 connecting correctly via Bluetooth to the EV3 brick. After upgrading to Yosemite the bluetooth scan returns much too quickly to have actually scanned, and of course the EV3 brick isn't shown as a target.

Do we know if the APIs for bluetooth change in some radical way to break previously working software, or does this indicate some kind of malconfiguration on the laptop?

Only slightly related is the fact that to make WiFi work I had to turn off bluetooth per a suggestion on this thread (at least that works).

Thanks!

Confirming that JohnDavidson's suggested work around works for the EV3 (and latest firmware/software updates there as of 12-20-2014) with Yosemite:

"You can only pair the EV3 from within the Mindstorms program. Do not attempt to pair directly with OS X, so don't use the second mechanism in the above document. It won't work. You will also find that the connection will only be stable while Mindstorms is running. Once you close Mindstorms, the bluetooth connection will be lost."

Same problem with:

Macbook Pro

OSX 10.9.5

Mindstorms EV3 Home edition v1.1.1

Brick firmware V1.07H

Pairing with the EV3 only possible from within 'OSX bluetooth preferences',

Pairing succeeds with 'connected' in the bluetooth preferences display,

but after 2 seconds the preferences display shows 'not connected'

The bluetooth connection never shows up in the Mindstorms EV3 Home Edition software with the EV3 connected via USB

Any suggestions?
