Yosemite + Mindstorms EV3 = Bluetooth fail?

Prior to my upgrade to Yosemite, I had the Lego LabVIEW for Mindstorms EV3 connecting correctly via Bluetooth to the EV3 brick. After upgrading to Yosemite the bluetooth scan returns much too quickly to have actually scanned, and of course the EV3 brick isn't shown as a target.

Do we know if the APIs for bluetooth change in some radical way to break previously working software, or does this indicate some kind of malconfiguration on the laptop?

Only slightly related is the fact that to make WiFi work I had to turn off bluetooth per a suggestion on this thread (at least that works).

Thanks!

MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X Yosemite (10.10)

The key is to establish the bluetooth pairing using the LEGO Mindstorms software.

DO NO TRY TO PAIR using OSX Bluetooth Preferences or anything under System Preferences ...

Here is a link to the EXACT instructions. Follow them EXACTLY

I spent an hour trying all different things before stumbling upon these and they worked on the first try.

Thanks, but unfortunately this does not work here, I followed exactly what is written, but there is no way to activate the bluetooth checkbox in the Mindstorms software.

As said the bluetooth connection stays on for 2 seconds and then vanishes...

(i have already spend more then 1 hour in order to get connected via bluetooth...i think bluetooth is to unreliable or mal implemented in the brick...)

what hardware version does your brick gives you in the brick info screen? Mine is V0.60.

I have been trying with the EV3 software, with two NXT 2 controllers, and have had Bluetooth continually drop. I was told by Lego Mindstorms tech support that it has been broken since 10.7. People's experience may vary though, and it could help to have more calls to tech support for this. The direct number to Mindstorms / Educational tech support is: 877 680 2800. Based on the crashes in the NXT 2 installer, it does appear that the Mac software is woefully neglected.
