iTunes 12.0.1 cannot detect iPhone 5s iOS 8.0.2

Everything was working fine until I just downloaded and installed the new ITunes. Now the program wont recognize any of the Apple products (Ipad 1, Ipad 2, 2-Iphone 4s and 1-Phone 5s). I check each device and click "TRUST" when asking if this computer is to be trusted, but the products are not recognized in ITUNES and won't sync. I have unauthorized and reauthorized the computer, hard reset the phones and Ipads, and uninstalled and reinstalled ITunes, but to no avail.

Any ideas on this? From the numerous postings on the net, this is NOT an isolated incident. Apple needs to step up here and fix this major FUBAR.

I'm having this problem with several different versions of the iOS, none of the iOS 8. I have seen people saying iOS is having this problem too. I can see my iOS devices using Image Capture and iPhoto so they are connecting to my computer just fine. It is iTunes 12.0.1.26 which is having the problem.

Hi Mario,

Trawling through the different forums it's clear that a lot of users are all having similar bad experiences with their devices after installing iTunes 12. I can add my name to the list and can also say that I have been through all of the steps and processes that are referred to in the article and still iTunes will not recognise my iPhone 4s and iPad both of which are IOS 8.1.

Is there any chance of a fix for this problem being released?

Hi all:
I keep seeing "I tried those suggestions" and "Did that but it didn't work...", etc.

Just to be certain, if you posted that you've tried everything and still no success, do you mean you followed EVERY SUGGESTION in Apple's posting here:

See this link: iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch not recognized in iTunes for Windows - Apple Support

Just curious if we are talking about the same "I've tried everything..." since the replies posted above are often to specific people with one or two suggestions about device drivers, USB, etc.

Have you followed all steps in the link and iTunes still fails to see your iPhone?

Let us know.

Sorry to hear that Pub - I am a Windows 8.1 user and the link article is for Windows. No clue what suggestions Apple has published for Mac OS, but it definitely should not take all of this effort. The fact that it works out of box for some, with after-installation tweaks for others, and not at all for some, is an iTunes program or iTunes installer problem that Apple needs to fix.

However, for Windows users, the fact that devices continue to connect fine once iTunes is running properly for those of us who had the initial problems, suggests some configuration problem in Windows that iTunes 12.x installation has gummed up and is not able to set/fix, so at least for Windows, going through the manual steps in the Apple Support article I posted above is all Windows users can do.

If those all fail there's not much else to do until Apple releases an updated iTunes version... Or someone comes up with a miracle cure that no other Windows user has thought of...

Have just installed the latest iTunes 12.0.1.26 and now cannot see my iPad mini any more. Have followed the article: "iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch not recognized in iTunes for Windows".

I am using Windows 7, as instructed before starting iTune, have followed the article and all checked the Device Manager, found Apple Mobile Device USB Driver nicely installed with no issues. Then started iTunes and the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver has disappeared form the Device Manager.

There seems to be a problem with the iTunes then, could you please advise, fix it?

Hey guys I just fixed my problem!!! turns out my thunderbolt port was dirty on my iphone 5. I was having the same problems here on my Mac, my phone would charge when connected to my Mac via USB but iTunes wouldn't recognize my device. So what i did is (don't kill me i'm about to upgrade and l don't care what would happen to my phone) I spit into the thunderbolt port and viola!, as soon as i connected my Iphone 5 to my Mac iTunes finally recognized my phone. So yea I guess it was just Dirty, l also read somewhere that usb cables can get dirty so clean the conductors...
