iTunes 12.0.1 cannot detect iPhone 5s iOS 8.0.2

I tried many things this worked.

Unfortunately, no magic cures that work for everyone, but I'm re-posting this link for Windows users:

If you have tried hit-or-miss to follow SOME of the suggestions in this forum, follow the LINK and try EVERY STEP in the posting (if it applies to your Windows OS version). If so, and it still doesn't work, and you've tried the other magic cures posted above (like cleaning lint out of your Lightening connector port....) you are screwed unless Apple comes up with a true fix.

Did work with anyone and Windows 8.1 64bit?

I'm running 8.1 64-bit on my laptop. I originally had the connection problem with my iPhone 5s when I upgraded to iTunes 12.1x. I had to go through most of the instructions on the support doc linked above before my problem was resolved.

Here's what I'm running --

I reinstalled the usbaapl64 driver but Windows 8.1 64bit still can't see the iPhone and iTunes is stuck in step 2 of backing up. Maybe because it is iPhone 4.

Thanks for posting this! Solved the problem right away. I can now sync my iPhone 5S with iTunes 12.0.1 running on a Windows 8.1 machine.

Iphone 5C + 2010 iMac running Mavericks 10.9.4 ... simple iMac restart fixed my phone/itunes connection problem

I'm having the same issue on two different Mac OS 10.9.5. Rebooting the Mac seem to help for a while, but the issue will start again after a few days so pretty much need to reboot a few times a week now...

For Mac users try and kill the ubsmuxd (open the activity monitor, find the process and quit the process). It will restart again and you should be OK. You may also need to restart iTunes.

Not a fix but easier than rebooting every time.

a few the whole reason iTunes was made is to sync between devices this has practically dumped the reason for its creation

Make sure that your connected to the Wifi, this solved all of these problems for me.

IPHONE 5 ; WINDOWS 7 64 bits => ITUNES rarely detect my Iphone and MTP device driver FAILED

i've just bought an Iphone 5 and i was encountering a lot of problem trying to make it detect by itunes (=> MTP device driver failed, Itunes didn't see any iphone or detect it few times and lost it when reconnect it... 😟)

I ve tried ALL soft suggestions but it didn't work (during 2 days....)

I SOLVE the problem unplugging an other USB device plug in front of the PC (a wifi usb key) and plug every USB device like the Iphone and the wifi key on the back of PC and then it finally works. The problem was a voltage issue it seems that the Iphone 5 need more power that older Iphone.

I have to precise that now Itunes detect Iphone perfectly. I don't have any driver conflict. i detect the iphone on windows but i can't have access to explorer for exploring photos... It seems this is a software pb this time but i don't need to explore it on window so i let this like this but for people who wants to solve this it seems the soft solution for this pb is there Windows 8 Apple drivers
