iPhone 6 plus rear camera blurry/wobbly (not focusing)

iPhone 6 plus rear camera is not focusing, won't remain stable and is blurry no matter how still I get whether video or picture. Automatic or manual focus not working either. Front facing camera works fine. Seems OIS isn't doing anything but making it worse.

Here is a photo(below) taken while completely still that never focuses automatically or manually and is vibrating vertically as if taken in motion.

Videos become wobbly and out of focus. Link: https://vid.me/Nxh

Steps I have taken:

1. Closed all apps and forced reboot of phone.

2. Reset all settings.

3. Restored phone to latest 8.1 software and set up as new phone.

Results still the same even if I use 3rd party camera/video app.

How did you find this out? I bought my iPhone 6+ in 2014, and the camera stopped working a couple months ago. But just got the new 7+, bc I was tired of not having a camera ph that didn't work! :-(

Can I still get a new iPhone 6+, since it's a defect issue?

Same issue here with an iPhone 6 plus. My autofocus is working when taking picture from anything close from the phone but then the autofocus is not working anymore if I take a picture of something farthest.

Also I noticed a kind of small "point" of light such a reflect of the light when I've any lights in front of my screen and then once the picture is taken we can see it on the picture... Annoying.

I've an appointment on with the closest Apple Store and will see which kind of fix or replacement will be offered by the Genius Bar.

Hi People.

I have the same problem. My Iphone 6 plus, 128 gigas suddenly stop focusing and the camera is not working right.

I live in a country where doesn't have an apple store so my only hope would be that this is a bug that can be fixed with an update of the ios.

It´s incredible that an almost usd 1000 phone, top of the line, has this problem.

I did not have a problem with the image being "wavy" as some other users have reported. My problem was much less severe, the camera simply would not focus. It seemed to be stuck focused at a certain point and no matter what would not move. Since I bought my phone from a Verizon store, I decided to go back there first instead of to the Apple store which actually turned out to be a good move. They promptly exchanged it for a brand new one with no arguments. It is a bit disappointing that an $850 phone would have a problem like this though.

Just a word of warning to others having this problem; You should not put off addressing the issue, otherwise you may end up getting a refurb.

Got a replacement after having set an appointment to the Genius Bar. Refused the first two iphone 6 plus units because the screens was showing a kind of shadow on the top of the screen which was nothing related to my camera issue but my aim wasn't to go with any additional issues like this. Finally the third unit was very good and I kept it: very good screen (whiter than my initial iPhone 6 plus with a blueish/cool tint as I like) and the most important think: the autofocus works!

Thanks to the Genius Bar that offered a very good support!

Same here. One of our iPhone 6 Plus users in the company just reported the problem after having the phone since October 2014 and the cell phone provider is shipping a new phone over the weekend. As long as the phone is under warranty and you got it through a cell phone carrier, they'll replace it and deal with Apple for you. Judging from some of the comments on this thread, I'm glad I didn't have to contact Apple directly.

Same issue here with my 6+ 128. Looking back, last "normal" photo was 12/27/14 and first blurry one was 1/12/15. Called Apple, they had me try it in slo-mo and video - also blurry. Then they had me do a full restore. Still blurry. I have an appointment at the Apple Store. Really hoping I can get camera replaced or a new phone. I have taken very good care of my phone and don't want a refurb.

I had the same issue as many people here. I have had my 6Plus for about 3 months and the rear camera quit focusing. It became stuck at focused on about 6-8 inches out. After an online chat with Apple Support (restarting the phone, restoring from a backup, etc), they set up an Apple Genius Bar appt for me. At the appointment, Apple quickly decided that it was a hardware problem and replaced the camera in my phone (not the entire phone). Clearly Apple knows about this concern if they are stocking cameras and instructing their people to replace just the cameras and not entire phones. Either way - in true Apple fashion they quickly identified the issue, took my phone from me to repair, promised it back to me within one hour, and held to their word. It now works properly again. I don't appreciate having to have it fixed, but as usual - Apple took care of the issue quickly and for free.

I have the same story as you Wagga, except when they replaced my camera it didn't work for some reason so they gave me a new phone. Just wanted to get on and say that Apple is definitely aware of the problem, I was in and out of the Apple Store within an hour. I have a 128Gb 6 Plus. They knew it was a problem with the new image stabilizer (I forget the name of it). OIS? Anyway, I was told it wouldn't happen again after it being replaced, so we will see. I am a Marine and I take my phone around with me everywhere so I should know pretty quick.
