iPad Air 2 sound vibration

i just got my iPad Air 2 and the speaker vibrates whenever I play video or music even at low volume. Is this a common problem?

Tony, like I said, I understand this feature might not be popular or appreciated.

Thing is, the sound is better than any previous iPads, with a very thin body, which is impressive in itself.

The first iPad I had was an iPad 2, and the sound was absolutely horrible, like a small phone, with very limited frequency range.

Five days later with the Air2 : I don't pay attention anymore to the vibration ( Skype calls, youTube vids, some music ), getting used to it.

If Apple was to re-engineer a speaker for the Air2 with the same sound, without vibration, it would be a pretty revolutionary step in speaker design and audio.

I don't think it will happen soon.....

We want thinner, lighter, faster, better and we got it, no?🙂

Kskal, I think extreme 10 hours a day of holding the tablet with full volume might be bad, yes.

But then, holding the tablet for 10 hours is bad in itself for the hands and wrists.

As is listening to 10 hours of music, even at not so loud levels ( check the studies about earfatigue )

If you read studies about Wifi, Bluetooth especially, and looking at screens...might scare you more than the vibration here

Peace

well i just could not get used to the very noticeable vibration , for those who think the sound is better in ipad air2 and vibration is a normal part of it then congratulation , there is no other better tablet out there.

For me it was a deal breaker and unfortunately my first apple product returned of the five I own.

To me its still a major design flaw.

Lighter and faster? Yes, we got that. But no, we did not get better.

I cannot physically listen to music or watch anything with sound on the iPad air 2. I tried for 10 days to love it, but even watching a video on volume level one made me want to plug my ears and run.

Returned mine this morning, such a shame, and such a waste that Apple was willing to let them be manufactured.

The sound quality is great.

but you cant use/hold the ipad while listening or you go cracy cause of vibrations.

so they some how let this pass through quality control.

only reasson i kept mine is it works great for my need and a great companion to my iphone. If this was my first apple device i would have returned it and never buy anything from apple again. and i will never again by a apple product pre realease

By "physically" do you mean listening while holding the tablet, or that the sound to your ears is physically bad?

I do understand the former, as I said.

Now if you put the tablet on a stand, or other surface, the sound is more than alright because the frequency range is enhanced compared to former internal speakers iow you hear a bigger, more natural sound, with the added bonus you don't feel the vibration anymore.

Also the highs or "treble" of the sound are quiet flat, ie they seem non-boosted : boosted highs are often to blame for an unpleasant sound.

To each his/her own I guess...

Now am wondering if some production batches are faulty, and account for even more vibrations, seeing how more and more people have such an unpleasant experience.

Has anybody tried Smartcases or other covers that could possibly absorb a part of the vibrations?

I Beg to differ. The first thing I noticed was the sound quality of the Air 2 was at best thinner/tinnier than the Air. By no means is it better. I

aas I said earlier I'm stuck for now and hope Apple acknowledges the problem and recalls it. Not holding my breath. As said above after years of buying Apple products sight unseen, I won't be doing that again. I've learned my lesson. Steve is gone. This would have NEVER passed his final OK. He would have been screaming so loud we'd have heard him from another city. If this was my company, I'd be embarrased.

IIf there was anything I learned from Isaacson's bio is, Steve was a perfectionist. Given every iPad previous to the Air2 didn't vibrate, this one just wouldn't get past him. That this did get past someone, Jony? It bodes poorly for Apple going forward. I won't be buying anything anymore site unseen or held or tested.

Stood in line at BestBuy for over 2 hrs on Black Friday with 7 month old to buy the iPad Air 2. After attempting to convince myself to keep it I just couldn't accept the vibration - returned on the 14th day for a full refund from BestBuy - This was my first time returning any Apple product for not being up to the standards I've come to expect from them.

@Joe221 and others - Ditto. Steve would never have let this one through.

@BiggNik - I tried a slim case as well as a bulkier one by Samsonite - the vibration just wouldn't go away. I sooooo much wanted to keep this one.

I was concerned about the vibration also, after experienced it at the store with the demo Air 2. I bought one anyway, and after several day of using it, I don't find it an issue, by the way I don't always hold it while using it, and I use a smart case. The vibration is there but not annoying at all. The sound quality is great for a tablet.

I am VERY disappointed with the sound quality and vibration using the built in speakers. Yes, the iPad Air 2 is incredibly thin but also has incredible bad speaker sound quality. The vibrations are even worse and even using the Apple Smart Case doesn't help.

For everyone considering to buy an iPad Air 2 and watch videos using the built in speakers: Go to a reseller and check the quality. I did believe in Apple iDevice built quality, so I didn't check that issue.

This is the first Apple product I'm returning for a refund.
