iPad Air 2 WiFi Issues
I'm having WiFi connectivity issues on my new iPad Air 2 (WiFi only). I'm having to turn WiFi off and on to reset my connection. Restarting and restoring hasn't fixed the issue.

So this blog ha been going for two years and still no fix.
come on Apple step up to this issue. It's a real pain.
sleep itself is not a problem. sleep program in air2 is the problem.
A lot of the routers people are talking about are released on very recent technology. My EA4500 and most of the other Linksys routers is from 2012 and has the newest non-AC version of wireless-N, and it received a firmware update 3 months ago. The Netgear R7000 was released within the last year. The Netgear R7500 was released within the last few months.
With Wifi, I would actually think there should be MORE issues using the newest 802.11ac tech rather than the older 802.11n. 802.11ac actually is still a DRAFT standard, and the specs and requirements have not been finalized by the IEEE yet, which means all ac devices are subject to risk that the finalized standard will do something different that may cause issues with their operations.
I am reminded of this whenever people talk about Apple being on the cutting edge: http://9to5mac.com/2011/10/25/slide-to-unlock-patented/
Come to think of it, maybe the disconnects occur on the wakeup of the devices
To me, that suggest a bug in the Air 2 iOS software because the router would not really know or control a reconnect of the device on wake-up, that would be the job of the iOS
My mind goes into "sleep mode" when people talk about all these very techie specs. I'm an Apple customer because I liked that it was "for the rest of us". I don't HAVE to know all those things! I don't want to, either!
All I can say is that in the past when I had NetGear or Linksys routers, I had lots of network problems. They were permanently fixed when I bought an Apple router. I have heard many people at the Apple stores (both the "official" ones and independent Apple sellers) say that Linksys and often NetGear, do not "play nice" with Apple. Frankly, I don't care whose "fault" it is - I simply don't buy a product that is finicky about working with Apple and I simply my life by buying a router made by Apple that I KNOW will work with little effort on my part. That is how the majority of customers for Apple products feel. Those of you who clearly enjoy knowing more and tinkering with settings (I'm sure you have valid reasons for doing so!) may find that annoying. But it is what most of the public wants.
I suspect it is related to some power-saving feature of air2 -- after a while with no WiFi activity, it switches to a power-saving mode. However, the algorithm on power saving implemented for new chip on air2 is buggy.

To me, I would think that Apple is the one making the new product and should be backward compatible with all existing routers that people have.
Air 1 does not have a problem with existing routers, it's the Air 2, so there must be something in Air 2 that is causing this issue.
Oh for gawd's sake! Apple, nor any other tech company, cannot possibly be expected to make every new tech they develop be backward compatible to the publics old devices at home. Hey, why don't they make my 2009 computer work with that 1999 scanner that I bought! Why doesn't Yosemitie work on my 1990 Mac Classic?
We all know that technology is a constantly moving line. Each new development makes what we bought a few months ago, no longer the "latest and greatest". And the new tech may even be less expensive! It's not like buying a lawn mower or a power mixer and using it until it finally wears out. If one can't accept this, then having lots of computer tech products is going to cause one a LOT of frustration and anger.
If an 71 yr old woman who never finished college and only worked outside the home for a few years, can understand this, then anyone should be able to do so!

lol,, hey that's great, 71
Lets all be friends here, no need to defend or blame Apple. I just hope either they or Linksys/Netgear fixes the problem, especially considering that the routers being cited as problematic were released in the last 2 years.
More to the point - I have the same opinion as ScorpionRay. Its a power management problem - a lot of signs point to it, and we know Apple worked some power saving alchemy in the iPad Air 2 in order to allow it to have the same battery life despite carrying a battery that has 25% less juice.
I would be very surprised if this issue or problem lies with existing routers.
My bet is that apple programmers need a fix on the next iOS update
I would also gear towards Apple fixing the IOS.
I have a case with Apple support raised in beginning Oct on wifi sleep issue before Ipad Air 2 was released to the market.
Case was: Iphone 6 and Iphone 6 plus lost connection after sleep.
ipad mini lost connection after sleep after upgraded to ios 8.0.2 and ios 8.1
Existing devices like ipad Air on ios 7.1.2 did not lose connection after sleep on the same router.
Then Ipad Air 2 came along and it exhibits the same issue as above.
to my surprise, Apple is making the same mistake again and again...
I checked the Apple Support web page and don't see a way to send Apple an email about this issue.
Is there a way to contact Apple and direct them to this topic?
