iPad Air 2 WiFi Issues

I'm having WiFi connectivity issues on my new iPad Air 2 (WiFi only). I'm having to turn WiFi off and on to reset my connection. Restarting and restoring hasn't fixed the issue.

I opened my case Tuesday, and was escalated to 2nd level support. After redoing all of the various resets to verify yet again those wouldn't resolve the problem, the support person opened a ticket for my issue with the engineering team.

Late yesterday (~24 hours after the escalation) I was sent a list of questions to provide 'more information' to the engineering team. Those questions basically asked me to repeat almost all the information I'd already provided including details of my home network configuration, router type, etc. I was even asked yet again to explain the issue as one of the questions wanted me to provide 'the exact text of the alert' I see when trying to join my wifi network. Clearly there are no alerts and joining the network isn't the issue. The problem is staying connected, and having the iPad claim its connected when in fact it is not.

In my calls with support, and again in my response to the questions, I've referred to these Community discussions. Whether anyone in support or engineering has (or will) actually look at these threads isn't clear. In either case, so far this still seems to be being handled as a one off issue with my particular iPad and network. Hopefully someone at Apple will realize this is actually a bigger issue than just me. I'm not convinced though that they can actually look at my case and the one submitted by chnglin3 and realize its the same issue with different iPads and different networks.

I'm not confident this is going to get sorted out anytime soon. So In the meantime, escrge1843's workaround is working for me. I'd rather deal for a while with a slow connection that stays connected than a faster one that I have to restart every time I use the iPad.

No, this is not a problem for most people - no announcement from Apple as it's a very limited problem for a few people.

All of you here have just purchased new iPad Air 2's. They automatically come with 90 days of free phone support from Apple. Why is no one using this? We are a user-to-user group but we're not tech specialists, such as you would be speaking to at Apple Support.

CALL them and explain your problem! If the first person to whom you speak, can't solve it, ask that it be escalated to a higher level support person. They WILL identify and solve your problem - if they cannot, they will suggest you return your iPad and get a replacement, either by mail or at a local Apple Store.

Geeze, this is like a husband who is lost and absolutely refused to ask for directions...

How do you know it's only a few people ?

(I know lot of people who never post anything in the forums )

Lots of assumptions in this thread ....

What we know for sure:

- happens with some routers (Linksys and Netgear, etc)

- same routers work fine with the other devices, including iPhone 6, iPad Air 1, etc.

- some people got a their Air 2 replaced with a new one and still have the issue.

- some people (me included) tried to talk to some tech specialists. We should keep doing it so the development team is aware and can investigate.

- the problem is maybe in the Apple SW/driver, Broadcom firmware or HW, we have no idea.

- there seems to be various issues with the Wifi since iOS8.x, so the Wifi team is maybe quite busy.

- the fix should not be to buy a new router ! unless they explain why some routers don't work with their device, and why it's the router's fault.
